Could you give up washing?

A growing number of people are cutting down on daily showering and hair-washing. So could you join the extreme soap-dodgers? If you are reading this article over breakfast, the chances are you have recently stepped into the shower, lathered up your hair and torso, rinsed off, towelled and blow-dried, before dousing your armpits with deodorant, and wafting on a fog of perfume or aftershave.

Sounds like my moronic cousins who lived on the outskirts of Hulbert, OK.

Gross.

I took a University course back around 1975 where the Professor insisted that bathing and showering were unnatural as the natural oils that the body produced were not meant to be so treated.

The Course also presented theories about Limits to Growth and Global cooling, and the unsustainable population growth that was likely to occur by the mid 1990s.

A serious focus was natural foods and the blessings of vegetarianism and the written works of Adelle Davis and her nutritional philosophies and suggestions that washing vegetables was a waste of time and detergents were of no value because the food was already infected with carcinogens in the fields where they grew.

Davis died of Cancer somewhere around mid Semester.

It was in retrospect, serious Moon bat stuff.

If I were where you are I would take 1 hour long showers to escape the heat.

We do have A/C here...or I wouldn't have hung out here so long. ;-)

The weather is very pleasant now. Highs in the upper 70s and we never have humidity here.

With the return of big white clouds to the sky (there are no clouds in the summer), the sunsets are spectacular.

And in less than three weeks, all going well, I shall be stateside. Woooohoooo!

Yeah, well I guess the humidity would be a killer for me.

I left Oklahoma because I couldn’t stand the humidity.

Coming home?

Good for you!

You’ll be coming back during some pretty decent weather for TX.

Stay thirsty and stay strong.

Procurement (purchasing and contracts) management along with a bunch of stuff related to drawdown activities.

Doesn't that sound exciting? ;-)

I wipe kitchen counters, especially when I am nervous, am really bugged by crumbs or smeary marks on them. Have to make the bed (almost militarily neat) every night before I go to bed (cannot do it in the morning due to household schedules). Have a need to fold clean clothes as soon as they are dry, no leaving them in the dryer for awhile if possible (but I could leave them folded and clean in a basket and just use them out of the basket, never putting them away in dresser without it bothering me). I don’t know if these are OCD issues? Oh, and I will get up and close the closet door in the bedroom if it is open even a little crack and I am trying to go to sleep, kind of a bogeyman fear?

I guess we all have our little phobias.

I don’t see how anyone could not bathe on a regular basis....that’s just gross!!!

I don't see why anyone would want to bathe, period. What's the point of stewing in your own filth? I shower every night before bed for the same reason, I wouldn't want to soil the sheets and spend the night laying in dirt.

I am going to take longer showers.

Don’t these folks remember studying the Water Cycle in 4th grade? The rain comes down, it goes into the ocean, it sinks into the soil, the sun warms it up, it evaporates and makes clouds, and then it RAINS.

Matter is neither created nor destroyed.

Gee, talk about pushing the Laws of Nature aside for your own theories. Watch for Obama to try to make showers ILLEGAL.

They're grateful to have people who have the experience, know-how and security clearance.

And no matter what you do here, there are some bad, bad people around.

Dude! New Year’s Resolution???? Why put off tomorrow what you can do right now?

Go take a 15 minute hot shower with lots of soap and shampoo. Shave and use lots of after shave.

Then take a drive to that steak house way across town and order the largest steak on the menu!

After all New Years day is a month and a half away....why wait?

We all have our little quirks but up until recently nobody made a big deal of them or gave them fancy names. All that does is make them bigger than they really are and draw attention to them. Now, when it’s so bad that people can’t function in society then it is a problem that needs to be dealt with. I’ve never met anybody that didn’t have some small ‘issue’. It just means we are human.

Heck, I’ve even had some dogs with OCD issues. :-)
