Woman alleges 'Sox' tattooed backward on thigh By: Todd J. Behme October 08, 2010
(Crain's) A Chicago White Sox logo was tattooed backward onto a woman's thigh, she alleges in a lawsuit filed Thursday.
Eugenia Gina Bebis of Elmwood Park went to Mystic Tattoo Art & Body Piercing in Chicago in early June for a tattoo made up mainly of the Sox logo, according to the suit. She consulted with an employee, Micah St. John, and he worked up a proof of the design, the suit says.
Mr. St. John then inked the tattoo on the outside of her thigh, and when she was able to see it, she saw that it was backward, with the word Sox in reverse, according to the suit, which names as defendants Mr. St. John and Mystic, 3120 N. Cicero Ave. in Chicago.
Ms. Bebis, 20, alleges in the complaint that she has had to undergo extensive laser tattoo removal procedures, will require further procedures in the future and will also require a different, larger tattoo to cover up the laser-faded backwards tattoo at issue.
The laser treatments have caused severe and continuous pain, according to the complaint, filed in Cook County Circuit Court.
She's seeking damages not to exceed $50,000, according to the suit.
"My client wants the shop to be accountable for what it did, given how obvious the mistake was to the person inking the tattoo," Ms. Bebis' lawyer, Daniel C. Fabbri, said in an e-mail. "She just wants this taken care of, and to be compensated for all that she has had to go through, especially the incredibly painful laser removal process."
There was no answer Friday at a phone number for Mystic Tattoo.
Look in the mirror dear.....all will be ok
“Hey, it looked ok in the mirror when I said ‘yep, go ahead and ink it.’”
Bump for later...
Oh man, I needed a good laugh. Thanks...
Did she take this picture in a mirror?
I had a friend who had his name tatooed on his upper arm when he was drunk, and they put his first name last (Peoples Eddy). It took him a while, looking at it upside down, to figure out why it looked so funny. All of my Navy vet friends said the tatoos they got were the dumbest things they ever did. They washed out over the years, and you couldn’t read them. They say the ink’s better now, but I don’t think it’s just the ink that fades and degrades the tats.
