Anyone have any insiders scuttlebutt of Netflix POV on USPS losses?

Does anyone have any knowledge of what the thinking at netflix is, in regards to USPS's losses, their threat to cut Saturday feliveries, and possible postage tate hiles?

Is Netflix taking this as a wake-up call to start hot footing their efforts to move more of their content onto their online 'Watch Instantly' libraries, and away from their DVD delivery service?

IMO they really need to develop this method with all due speed. And not just because I prefer my content from online, but because it may soon be their best, if not only option that they can reasonably profit from....Again,,,IMO.

But it sure would be good to know that they are going to be stepping up their efforts to present more new content for online viewing.

Netflix streaming works pretty well now, although there are some holes in the library.

Per one report, Netflix has drastically increased its 'purchasing' of streaming over last year.

The article below addresses some concerns about the postal rate increase:

I meant:
“Saturday deliveries, and possible postage rate hikes?”

I hope this helps...Wouldn’t want to leave you without being able to comprehend...;)

Yep, those are the holes I was referring to. The technology is still a work in progress and they are also dependent on our Internet connection. But in time it is going to be a whole lot better. I gave up on the mailing side of Netflix months ago.

You might want to check out a few more books and less movies!

Many people don’t have high enough downloads speeds. Most rural areas don’t have high speed available. Mail is delivered to rural areas. Mail will still be cheep enough to make a profit.

Oh, so you’re a liberal, who believes more in the presentation than actual content. It could be rotting, fetid and diseased, what you present...as long as it’s in bright and shiny, in “clean and articulate” packaging....right?

I find they have every blu-ray that has been released. Are you disappointed that the studios aren’t releasing their libraries fast enough?

Another issue facing Netflix and others’ downloads is the rumored attempts by large carriers to limit how much a consumer can download before higher charges for broadband kick in.

Have heard that limit could be as low as a movie or two a month. This has been posted on FR recently - a week or two ago. But I’m sure we can count on Congress to exempt home users from these new fees. /s

Sorry, maybe someone else can provide links for this issue.

The "watch instantly" method will never look (and sound) as good as a Blu-ray if you rent those (as I do). I don't think the lack of a Saturday would be a deal breaker for Netflix. I do stream some stuff from them-mainly old TV shows and film noir classics; and I'd like to see more of the library available for streaming. But streaming is not as good as Blu-ray.

I would still rent from Netflix even without Saturday delivery. I can have 3 movies out at any time, plus the streaming; so I don't think it would be crippling to lose Saturday. I will be more annoyed that some of my Amazon Prime orders would no longer come in 2 days of one of those days is a Saturday. I'm looking forward to the new Errol Flynn boxset I am supposed to be receiving from Amazon tomorrow.

I see your point....Perhaps with a more restrictive delivery environment, they might up the number of DVD’s one could have out at a time, to make up for it. Such as, instead of one DVD out at a time, they could make it two for 8.99/month. That way, a customer could mail back his DVD’s Mon through Wed, and get two new DVDs by Fri...Sound like a plan?
