Whatever you choose, make sure you have tabasco sauce.
Dinty Moore canned goods. The stew is awesome for something cheap in a can. MRE cost way to much and don’t taste all that good. Got a 5 year shelf life, but I’ve read that it’s still great 10 years later.
I’ve got my fingers crossed, I really don’t want to pull the boat and board up this year. I’ve rebuilt the dock 3 times in the last 10 years.
Good luck!

Crown Royale Reserve plus crackers. sorry.
I have alot of pasta, egg noodles, rice, beans, etc stored, along with those gravy pack thingies you can mix up.
So one day I decided to have an after-the-end-of-the-world lunch. Boiled up a couple cups of egg noodles, made some of the pork gravy, had noodles with gravy and black pepper and home grown oregano for lunch.
It was delicious! Seriously! It’s not hard to still eat very well, just takes a bit of prep and planning.
Check out Mountain House. It’s geared to the backpacking crowd. Good quality and keeps for five or so years.
...and a case of Cup-a-Noodles goes a long way. :-)
"Oh, this is the best pizza in a cup ever. This guy is unbelievable. He ran the old Cup 'o Pizza guy out of business. People come from all over to eat this. "
How about hauling ass before the hurricane gets there? You have a weeks notice. I live on the coast too. In 5 hrs I can be in Atlanta eating a steak. Dumb post.
My experience was with C-rats. any of those would work fine for me (except the Lima beans).
Menu fatigue and palatablility is a killer. Buy canned goods and storable foods that your family already eats.
14,000-15,000 calories is about equal to a case of MREs. 2.5 lbs of peanut butter is about 6200 calories for comparison.
Water is more important than food. 2 gallons of bleach and a way to boil water is critical.

Some people are not as mobile.
Some people have obligations that keep them there, like police and firemen and medical workers.
Dumb post.
Back at ya.
I’m sorry.. But to rely on MREs? This isn’t the apocolypse.
Castleberry Beef Stew is much better. Large can is enough nutrition for one larger person for a day.
Didn’t mean to be harsh. I’ve worked in “necessary” occupations in Fl. Actually liked it. The jail was never going to blow over. But come hell or high water, I’d find alternative grub other than MRE’s.
I never said it was.
But mre’s make sense for a few reasons.
They have a long shelf life.
They are pretty close to a complete diet.
They can be eaten at your home, or tossed in a backpack if you decide to bug out.
Bill Gates himself could have wandered through the flooded parts of New Orleans with a pocketful of Krugerrands after Katrina and STILL not been able to buy a single drop of fresh, clean water.
You know, ant and the grasshopper thingie.
What would you call a person that chastises another for trying to forsee, prepare, and cope with possible future problems?
I would call that person a fool.
