What great prose to try to describe a great rock band and concert. I was not able to make it this year - perhaps next. But last tour went to see RUSH twice with my teenage son. An amazing experience to see a group getting better with fresh new music that can be shared and appreciated by generations.
A real good read is Donna Halper’s (sp?) short speech for Rush when they were awarded a Hollywood Star a few months ago.

For All The Cat People Of Amy's Place
Venice Cats

When did all of that water manage to suddenly flood my city's streets?
Did it suddenly sneak in to claim its place while all the Humans were asleep?
To cover sturdy cobble stones under intriguing wetness so mysterious and replete
Creating a confounding obstacle for a Venice Cat with snowy hands and feet
Or did it appear through some unsought, breath taking conflagration?
Whatever happened has more than inflamed the spark of untapped imagination
For we Venice Cats have been known to adapt to the strangest of situations
Easily find other means of transit in our quest to get from here to there
Which might include quickly sharing a Gondola while maintaining an aloof air
Or dashing across angled Flagstone roofs amidst leaps long or high or low
To step from shadows at our destination in ways that Humans will never know
Only to suddenly disappear after our business has been transacted
We Venice Cats have a solid reputation for keeping Humans constantly distracted

My Father
As a child I come to you
Just awake, just aware
Just in time to know I need you
Grant me knowledge of you
And let me pay homage as I should
Ever honoring my father, you
I meet the first taste of dawn with you
With a renewed love between us
A simple child, and the perfect one, you

The Life That Matters
August 9, 2010
Isaac Hann was a little-known pastor who served a small church in Loughwood, England, in the mid-18th century. At the close of his ministry, the membership of the church numbered 26 women and 7 men. And only 4 of the men attended with any regularity.
In this age of mass media and mega-churches, who would consider this a successful work? In our world today, Isaac Hann would be considered one of those pastors who never quite made it. He certainly wouldnt have been invited to speak at pastors conferences, nor would he have written articles on church growth.
Yet, when he died at 88 his parishioners placed a plaque on the wall of their meeting house that remains to this day. It reads in part:
Few ministers so humble were, yet few so much admired: Ripened for heaven by grace divine, like autumn fruit he fell;
Reader think not to live so long, but seek to live as well.
First Peter 5:5-6 comes to mind: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Reverend Isaac Hann made it big in a way that mattershumility before God and a reward in heaven. We can too.
True greatness does not come to those
Who strive for worldly fame,
It lies instead with those who choose
To serve in Jesus name. D. De Haan
Humility is the recipe for success.
Read: 1 Peter 5:1-7
Remember those . . . who have spoken the Word of God to you, whose faith follow.
