PROVO — The former BYU student accused of attacking a woman with a stun gun pleaded guilty Tuesday to a lessened degree of aggravated assault.
Stetson Geo Hallam, 20, had been charged with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, following an April 6 incident that he claimed was an April Fool's joke, according to a police affidavit filed in 4th District Court.
Charges say Hallam, the victim's home teacher in their LDS Church ward, pressured the 19-year-old woman to meet him so he could "give her a gift."
The woman told police Hallam waited outside her Provo apartment for her to return, then asked her to go to a basement laundry room as part of a scavenger hunt.
Once in the room, Hallam attacked her with a Taser-like weapon, pinned her to the ground and tried to handcuff her, the affidavit states. Despite the electric shock, the woman began screaming and fighting back, and at one point bit Hallam's finger, according to court documents. She later told police she thought Hallam was trying to rape her.
After being bitten, Hallam released the woman, apologized, and said it was just an April Fool's joke, the affidavit states. Police found burn marks on the woman's arm from the weapon and a bite mark on Hallam's hand.
Hallam pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and obstruction of justice, second-degree felonies. He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 9 and faces up to 15 years in prison.

How does one become a “BYU home teacher”? Isn’t a “home teacher” by definition NOT a faculty member of BYU?

He’s certainly not one of the ‘good guys’. He did wrong and should be punished for his ill deeds, just like people of other religions should.
I find it funny that whenever a Mormon farts you’re the first one to run over and smell it. There’s a name for that psychological problem, just can’t think of it right now.
All positions in the Mormon church are via a so-called "calling." Harry Reid is an Lds "home teacher" in the D.C. area. (Isn't it "great" to know that the Mormon god has "called" Harry Reid to such a "calling" through his "prophet" and those administering the "ONLY true church" on the face of the earth?)

For those that are not conversant with mormon system, a home teacher is assigned by the local “priesthood” holders in the ward to go to various homes to “teach” to members.
They refer to works like “home teaching” as “callings”

Only you would reduce aggravated assault, an obvious ploy to commit kidnapping, probable rape, (and who knows how he planned to cover this all up) to the status of a natural body function. You're pathetic.
Perhaps as "penance" for such an assenine, careless remark, you should "sentence yourself" to go talk to dozens of rape and kidnapping victims and learn what they went through.
But I guess anything goes when you're in the Mormon PR biz.

Um....first of all, April Fools is the 1st not the 6th (several days diff there), secondly I saw this type of behavior at BYU by a couple of guys (although no stun guns), and finally...did anyone else notice that this event took place on the anniv of the founding of the LDS church?
April 6th - I hadn’t noticed the correlation to the founding of Mormonism......interesting....

The point is Colofornian is that you wouldn’t have posted it if something similar was done by a member of another church but since he was a Mormon Church it fit your agenda of trying to post anything that would make the Mormon Church look bad.

What "religious" people are you referencing here? I'm not saying a "religious" tag innoculates people from committing crimes...including these kinds of crimes...but how many men with a religious titled "calling" are on the loose with tasers, handcuffs, and ready-made containers that he was trying to lure her and stuff her in?
Furthermore, the contrast involved here is heavier. How many "people of other religions" (your reference) bill themselves as "supermen?"
I mean, all we'd need is for a guy like this to be a crowd like the one Lds "prophet" Spencer W. Kimball spoke to in the 70s -- and we'd hear Hallum referenced by a Mormon "prophet" as one of the "brethren": "Brethren, 225,000 of you are here tonight. Men sinning and committing these type of crimes, no matter what "religious tag" they wear? (Yeah, I understand that). But the fall seems to be a lot greater when you have so-called "gods-in-embryo" who were previously confirmed by a person supposedly guided directly by the Mormon god.
IOW, even from a Mormon perspective, the greater the fall, the greater the tragedy. And instead of being "tragedy-struck," you immediately kick it in to "other religions" gear.
