From the History Channel link:
According to ancient alien theorists, extraterrestrials with superior knowledge of science and engineering landed on Earth thousands of years ago, sharing their expertise with early civilizations and forever changing the course of human history. But how did this concept develop, and is there any evidence to support it?
Ancient alien theory grew out of the centuries-old idea that life exists on other planets, and that humans and extraterrestrials have crossed paths before. The theme of human-alien interaction was thrust into the spotlight in the 1960s, driven by a wave of UFO sightings and popular films like 2001: A Space Odyssey. The space program played no small part in this as well: If mankind could travel to other planets, why couldnt extraterrestrials visit Earth?
In 1968, the Swiss author Erich von Däniken published Chariots of the Gods?, which became an immediate bestseller. In it, he put forth his hypothesis that, thousands of years ago, space travelers from other planets visited Earth, where they taught humans about technology and influenced ancient religions. He is regarded by many as the father of ancient alien theory, also known as the ancient astronaut theory.
Most ancient alien theorists, including von Däniken, point to two types of evidence to support their ideas. The first is ancient religious texts in which humans witness and interact with gods or other heavenly beings who descend from the skysometimes in vehicles resembling spaceshipsand possess spectacular powers. The second is physical specimens such as artwork depicting alien-like figures and ancient architectural marvels like Stonehenge and the pyramids of Egypt.
If aliens visited Earth in the past, could they make an appearance in the future? For ancient alien theorists, the answer is a resounding yes. They believe that, by sharing their views with the world, they can help prepare future generations for the inevitable encounter that awaits them.
EPISODE 1 - The Evidence
Premiere Date: 04/20/2010
If ancient aliens visited Earth, what was their legacy, and did they leave behind clues that exist in plain sight such as sophisticated aircraft, complex electrical grids, and intricate construction machinery? Indian Sanskrit texts, dating back to 6000 B.C., describe in varying but vivid detail flying machines called Vimanas. Megalithic stone structures in Egypt reveal evidence of precision saw work. Interpretations of the Jewish Zohar writings offer depictions of a life-sustaining manna machine, eerily similar to chlorella algae processing systems today. Are these examples of modern technology, or is there evidence that these incredible mechanisms existed on Earth thousands of years ago?
EPISODE 2 - The Mission
Premiere Date: 04/27/2010
If ancient aliens visited Earth, what was their mission, and is there evidence that points to when they will return? Ancient Sumerian tablets describe an alien race, known as the Anunnaki, who came to Earth to mine for gold. Egyptian hieroglyphs depict hybrid creatures that were part man, part animal. Mysterious crop circles and unexplainable crystal skulls are thought to contain messages that man has yet to decipher. Strange evidence may exist in multiple cultures throughout history suggesting that aliens came here to explore, excavate raw materials, experiment on human beings, and even for pure conquest.
EPISODE 3 - The Visitors
Premiere Date: 04/27/2010
If ancient aliens visited Earth, who were they, and where did they come from? Possible historic evidence and beliefs are examined around the world. The Dogon people possess knowledge of a galaxy they claim was given to them by a star god named Amma. The Hopi and Zuni people celebrate Kachinas, gods from the sky, whose headdresses and costumes appear to resemble modern helmets and protective clothing. Halfway around the world, Chinese legends tell of the Han leader, Huangdi, arriving on Earth on a flying, yellow dragon. Was this dragon more likely a spacecraft? Ancient astronaut theorists believe that these are far from chance encounters and that extraterrestrials not only interacted with us, but changed the course of human history.
EPISODE 4 - Chariots, Gods & Beyond
Premiere Date: 03/08/2009 (repeated from 2009-LVD)
What if life on Earth began in outer space? Millions of people accept the theory that intelligent life forms visited Earth thousands of years ago and were worshiped as gods by primitive man. Are monuments like Stonehenge and Easter Island the last remains of an ancient alien visitation? From unexplainable super structures, to knowledge of the solar system, mathematics, and even the ability to make electricity, this special explores evidence of super-human influences on ancient man and embarks on an around-the-world search for answers. It's an investigation into a theory some believe cannot be true, but many agree cannot be ignored.
The History Channel showing a program about aliens? Who would have thought?
I miss the days when the History Channel actually televised shows about actual history.
Agreed.
Been pretty much unwatchable the last few years. To many non-historical reality shows, too much fluff.
THX THX.
I still encourage folks to check out
Guy Malone’s ministry about such facts here:
and

Tom Cruise must be simply ecstatic !
no offense, but how do you discount a possible fact. You have first hand knowledge from where and whom that allows you to discount anything you are uncomfortable with...
These theories make far more sense that slaves building the pyramid

Ditto on the "History Channel". Who gives a rat's behind about Ax Men or Truckers in Canada.
But if you have Digital Cable you guys need to start watching the History International Channel. Same company but better "History" programs. Their Hitler Marathons are really good (WWII actually).
But then again, they've showed this series on "HI" for years now. It ain't nothing new and was on last month. But it is interesting, give it a few minutes.
Thx for the heads up
If slaves could build the Taj Mahal, why not the pyramids?
Alien theorists=stoned critters
Buick hub caps made great flying saucers in the early 50’s.
BTW, Paid workers, not slaves probably built the pyramids as a tribute to the egos of pharaohs. Nothing more.
I spent the last fifteen years outside of the US and finally returned in January...quickly signing up for cable. I came to find the History channel something less than what I’d seen in the past...and frankly...there’s barely eight hours a week of actual history on the channel.
I’d like to take the Ax-Men series and the various reality shows....and just push them off to Bravo or some other similar channel and get back to old fashioned history.
The most amusing point...came about a month ago over the weekend...where they did four hours of Loch Ness, Bigfoot, and aliens. This violated just about every rule in the book on history. I’m guessing that they are fairly desperate to have profits and lumberjacks & truckers are the only way to maintain that profit.
EPISODE 6. Were the Pyramids Built Using Poured Concrete?
What other explanation could there be?
Don't miss it!!!
What if the slaves used Tractor Beams? Anti-gravity lift devices and such?
Yeah, pretty incompetent aliens though considering all those failed pyramids you can still find in Egypt. Took 'em a while to get it right.
and thanks to the History Channel for its program about Puma Punku, I learned about a mystery I never knew existed
I don't think archaeologists enjoy spending their time disproving that slaves built ancient engineering marvels like the Pyramids and Puma Punku with hand tools, ropes and pulleys.
It's just that, the more they find, all over the world, the less logic there is in assuming that slaves did so, or were even able to do so
Much less “why”.
From watching the History Channel series, what written records remain at many of these sites (excluding Puma Punku, no written language, possibly built before invention of the wheel, yet using diamond tipped machining tools)) seem more suggestive of alien involvement, or at least that the sites were built in the service of alien worship, with seeming universal fixation on astrological phenomenon, and a common extra-solar origin in a bistellar planetary system in the vicinity of the Orion constellation
For naysayers, I just wish a very rich person would offer skeptics a reward for undertaking the replication of the Pyramid or Puma Punku projects, using the manpower and technology known in ancient times.
And while you are at it, please replicate some of the complex mathematical and astrological crop circles
but please, do it overnight, as the world watches.
Put theories of extraterrestrial involvement to bed, once and for all, and we can all move on.
Nothing stopping anyone from showing the rest of us what fools we are for doubting you (or ancient mankind alone) could do it.
