...Fieri's meteoric ascent is impressive, but it also makes him one of the culinary world's most polarizing figures. For as many fans as Fieri earnsDora Long, the creator of Fieri's biggest fan site, says she gets hundreds of emails a weekhe draws equal detractors. Like Rachael Ray or Emeril Lagasse, Fieri is a food personality who has rapidly outgrown the food, walking the narrow line between technique and celebrity that makes so many in the industry nervous. His recipes have names like No Can Beato This Taquito, and Mac-Daddi-Roni Salad, and he often effuses about the greasy meals he eats on Diners, Drive-Ins and Drives with his mouth full of nachos or chili dogsspirited gluttony as entertainment.
The ire from the industry is palpable: At a recent panel at the New York Wine& Food Festival, star chefs David Chang and Anthony Bourdain sat down to call bull---- on several aspects of the food world, and singled out Fieri as the enemy...

She isn’t looking that hot any more. I liked when she was going with the blonde highlights, it was an attractive look and a better haircut on her then she sports today.
OK. You’re right. I apologize. How is it “language-accurate”. He is a native English-speaker, no?
Ah-ha! Somehow, I missed your thread. Now, time to read it...:)
As a child, I grew up in the same house my mother did. Hers was the only non-italian family in the neighborhood, in fact, she could understand italian, because all of her friends were. I NEVER heard this particular language change. Rs were Rs, Ts were Ts.
I like Guy. He’s a lot more personable than the guy on “Man v. Food.”
I’ll add the caveat that I’m assuming that ‘Fieri’ is the real surname of his ancestors, rather than something he changed it to. Changing it *would* indeed be pretentious, though arguably no more so than the other million celebs that have a stage name.
I love his Diners, Drive-ins and Dives show. I didn’t like him in the Food Network Star Search contest, but I LOVE that show. That food looks so good. I eat vicariously through that show.
A “T” is still a “T” and and “R” is still an “R” in any romance language. If you’re talking dialects, well, the guy was born here!
I love Guy. His Diners,Drive-ins, and Dives is one of the best food shows around. He finds great food in the most unlikely spots.
I think some foodies are snobs and think that everything is ‘fine dining’. I save up to go to a great table cloth restaurant but sometimes all I want is some food that’s well prepared, not too expensive, and local
The problem with Giada is that she smiles too much. If she lived in Italy, she’d be locked up in a mental institution.
I felt she was no longer my own personal stalk, but everyone's stalk.
I too am a Fieri fan. In ‘three D’ he highlights diners and dives where the food is great regardless of politics, etc. It woul dbe a hoot to plan a vacation trip based upon the diners, drive-ins, and dives Guy Fieri and Alton Brown (my favorite Food Channel star) have featured on their shows. If you recall, Alton did a motorcycle road trip series ... I prefer Guy’s Camaro over the two wheeler Alton shoved around for that series.
I got curious and looked around, according to Wikipedia he did change his name... it’s really “Ferry.” Of course, that in itself could have been changed when his ancestors immigrated, and he then changed it back, but I’ll go along with “pretentious” for now.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. bacon. life is good
It’s HIS name. Not yours. Why should you care how he pronounces his name? I pronounce my name the same wa y my dad does and his dad did...I bet Guy does too.
Alton’s gimmicks on the show are so cheesy it’s ridiculous.
That said, his facts are really interesting.
I enjoy all types of people on the channel, so I’m not just a Guy fan. But, I don’t get the hate.
Obviously before she devoured that turkey, and another turkey, and another turkey... LOL!!
There is not problem with Giada that I couldn’t overlook. And she doesn’t go by “Giada DiLautentis”. And her family is from the old country.
