SAN DIEGO — A man who sneaked a bag of his feces into a San Diego courtroom during his home-invasion robbery trial, smeared it on his lawyer and threw it at jurors has been sentenced to 31 years in prison.

-snip-

Several days after his request was denied, McGowan pulled out a bag of excrement he had hidden in his clothing, rubbed it on his lawyer and tossed it at the jury, hitting one juror’s computer case.

If throwing s*it is a crime, then there are a lot of Democrats in Congress who should be in jail!

>> smeared it on his lawyer and threw it at jurors

His lawyer didn’t think anything out of the ordinary, being made of the stuff anyway...

But when he threw it at the JURY... THAT’S when it hit the fan.

The lawyer probably assumed he was just full of it again and some was leaking.

McGowan, who attorneys say suffers from mental illness, had asked for a mistrial because he believed jurors had seen him in restraints when he entered the courtroom

So, because the jury had seen him in cuffs; he demanded a re-trial. Not because he wasn't guilty, not because he had any evidence, not because he felt he was innocent - but because it was determined that he posed a risk to either his lawyer, the police or members in the room.

So, how do you overcome this? Hmmm, how about throwing feces at everyone? That will make them come over to your side.

Reminds me of the 60-minutes style show on the air several years ago that dealt with the rise of Road Rage. The defendant was found guily of running a little old lady off the road - and before the gavel dropped; he turned to the TV camera and proclaimed "The judge is just showboating for the cameras". The look on the judge was priceless. The judge re-considered and gave the guy the absolute maximum fine plus the maximum jail time the law would allow - THEN he banged the gavel. Loved it.
