Hello: Please do not ZOT me. I am a member here for 5+ years. I did this because I had a question that involves my family and know that the freepers are great at advsing/giving asnswers. Yes I joined today and I did this because I don't want my family's business running around the net:

1) I have two sons that were sick. One had cancer and went through chemo. He was covered by my insurance as long as he stayed in college. He fumbled and is not in school at the momnet. When this happened my insurance did not cover him anymore. He cannot get insurance now because NO company wants to do it becuase of the pre-existing clause. Is there any insurance company or way that you guys know of that he can get insurance. He's free of the cancer now but the insurance problem is so bad now that he is making plans to move to Seattle, WA so that he can get on their community insurance program.

2) I have another son that has diabetes. My insurance still covers him. But once he hits 22-23, he will also be dropped by the insurance company. What can he do?

Guys dont ZOT me ok. Or at least give me some time to get some replies or FreepMail me. This is a post of desperation. Yes this is a vanity. But we have been looking for months now and the boys keep asking "Why is Obmama's plan so bad?" I would appreciate some postive replies or suggestions. Hey Jim, you run a great site. Great. Not to sound unkind, but I find it a bit annoying that out-of-staters come here to use MY tax dollars for health care.

The problem is — and this comment is not directed at the original poster — that many people want all the benefits of being a member of a close knit community with a strong support structure, but they aren’t willing to make the sacrifices associated with being part of that community. So they turn to the state with the presumption that it doesn’t matter if they skimp or free-ride on other aspects of their membership in the political community because all that matters is getting benefits.

But by far the worst thing that the post-FDR vision of the state has done is corrupt our ability to engage in charity. I know a lot of leftists who justify their lack of charitable giving (when they are not openly mocking me for tithing) by the fact that they vote for social programs. This idea that the state should take over the difficulties of personal sacrifice and charity seems to absolve them, in their minds, of the fact that they are not individually charitable.

You want some advice - here it is...

1. Go to your State's Website. All states have a program for the 'un insurable'. You may need three formal rejection letters from insurance companies. Depends on the state.

2. He's an adult so he nmay have to do this on his own. Depends on the state. And INCOME always plays into it. He may be able to get Medicaid

3. Same for son #2. Check the state programs.

But the catch is in any case is that states run out of money for this 'un insurable program' early in the fiscal year and stop accepting applicants. oh and this isn't 'free', you're in a 'Insurance Pool', I don't know the premium cost

And here's some of the problems with Obama Deathcare

1. He's destroying an entire system that only needs tweaking
   
2. With Obama Deathcare son #1 would be told by his Death Panel if the Cancer comes back take a pill, your life isn't worth expensive treatment.
3. Son #2 would get his medicine UNTIL something bad would happen, like needing an amputation (common). They'd let him die
4. Obama Deathcare isn't "FREE", you still have to pay for it, just like any insurance. Except instead of 'dropping you' they really will 'Drop You' -- off into the oven you're not worthy of living.
5. Its a combo of Communism and Fascism and pure Evil.

So there you have it 'newbie'.

I did try others first. This is the only one that really controls it with one pill a day. Otherwise I was living on Tums and being miserable anyway. Like I said, I can afford it, but it’s expensive.

I did help in post 82. I allayed him fears about the 2nd son not being able to get insurance down the road. Diabetics don't get turned down. I don't know about cancer patients.

My husband takes Nexium twice a day. There is no generic equivalent. Now that I am unemployed and do not have insurance it costs us $82 for a week's worth of pills.

Does your husband notice much difference compared to OTC Prilosec ($22 for 42 capsules). It had been a few years since I reviewed the literature, but it was difficult at the time to find any experimental advantage of the higher-priced brand name prescription PPIs compared to Prilosec. I didn't notice any difference myself.

I can only assume it was your employer sponsored insurance coverage. Based on that assumption, why didn't you continue his coverage under COBRA which means you would have had to pay the employer the applicable monthly premium for either 18 or 36 months, I forget which one.
