Hmmm. Never heard “duffus” before. “Doofus” was a New York City expression, probably from the Yiddish, meaning backside. Such as, “he was sitting on his doofus all day while I did all the work...”
Yiddish for backside is “tuchus.”
LOL!
Personally, I don’t think it should be against the law to drive naked in your car. Not that I have any desire to do so myself, but I would like to preserve the right to.
Where’s Laz?
I heard the term doofus many times, too. I’m an old guy, never been to NY, lived on the West coast all of my life...
I posted what the urban dictionary said.
At first I thought, “How can someone flash from an SUV?,” but the linked story says that the woman was in a big rig. Now I think, “How can anyone flash repeatedly?” Lady, just don’t look! How hard can it be? Try watching the road instead of some pervert’s duffus. And stow the kid in the back of the cab.
I don’t care what an urban dictionary says.
Duffus (doofus) means “fool” ... “don’t be a duffus” = “don’t be a fool”
Similarly, “teabag” means something I put in a cup of hot water to brew tea, no matter what some fools may think it portends.
