I will be playing cards and smoking cigars with General Patton and Mr. Stephens in the afterlife if they will have me at their table.
I don't need to justify my beliefs to you or anyone here for that matter.
Good day to you and everyone else.

it's incumbent on the parents to have a little consideration
Oh,yes, I would agree with you there.I can't for the life of me understand why a parent with a child that is clearly distressed (really LOUD screaming)would continue to sit at a table in a restaurant and act like it's ok.Not only is it not fun for the child, but there are those who paid good money for a meal out with friends, family,or just to be alone, only to be subjected to this kind of thing.
I've been in a restaurant where small children actually get up from the table and wander over to other patrons, stare at them or throw things-all the while with mom and dad on their cell phones or talking to friends at the table, oblivious to the fact that the child even left the table.
It's not just rude,it's dangerous.Imagine this child being swept up and hustled out the door or into the restroom by some sicko.

Bye.
By the way- the image of General Patton standing by and permitting a complete stranger to slap his two year old child just doesn’t quite work. Think about it.

This ought to be amusing. From the looks of it, he's retreated. I guess he felt too shell-shocked to defend his position. Ironic.

Yeah, and this "I am gonna kill you all" stuff being posted on these forums is precisely why the left enjoys making fun of a lot of you. LOL, if you think any of us care about the left making fun of us, you're on the wrong site, new guy.
But if you want to defend a grown man striking a 2 year-old child, go right ahead.
It just makes you look like an ass.

If I saw anybody take someone else’s 2-year-old in a store and start slapping them, I would physically intervene to stop them. Of course I wouldn’t kill him, even if it was my own child, but I might be a little more physical with him if it was my child.
There is virtually no circumstance in which it would be reasonable for a man to slap someone else’s 2-year-old for being too loud. Deal with the parent if you think the kid needs to be stopped.

I disagree with your analogy to Patton. Patton was a military man that believed in strict adherence to rules and order. This grumpy old man not only could not control his own emotional outburst (inevitably acting like a 2-year old himself), but the man actually broke the law. Patton would have gladly crucified the grumpy old man.
All the man had to do was leave, but he felt he was so self-important that the mother and child should be forced to leave or accommodate his weak sensitivities.
In TX, where most of us carry a gun, if you hit my kid for any reason, then you most likely will not walk away from the scene.

There is no reason that others in a place of business should be subjected to a screaming 2-year old. When I am out in public, I am confronted by any number of things that bother and annoy me. Where can I find this list of things I shouldn't be subjected to in public?
To: JoeProBono
Read the story, too few details as to how long the toddler had been stretching his/her vocal cords to hit C above high C or whether the mother was stuck in a check out lane and couldn’t make a quick exist to take the child home, but in any event I stress the old maxim: “Your ability to swing your arm, ends at my nose.” Truly never had a problem with my son, could take him anywhere and he’d charm the birds out of the trees, always traveled with hubby or family member who could, in a meltdown, take him out to the car but he honestly never had one.
HOWEVER, had I been unable to have him home by nap time for some inexplicable reason and had I been alone, IF ANYONE HAD TRIED TO PLACE A FINGER ON HIM it would not have been a pretty sight. It would have been very, very ugly and charges would have been pressed just as soon as the person who assaulted my child received all the medical attention he needed.

Everyone has their own "list" of what is objectionable and what isn't, and has their own method of dealing with the items on the "list". The point was, it's simply a matter of common courtesy (to others) on the part of the parent to control an unruly child and if the child cannot be controlled, to remove the child to a private place until the tantrum is over. Most parents, fortunately, understand this, and I applaud them for doing so. It's the parents who think that their child can do no wrong and refuse to exercise control over their children who are the real problem.

I agree with some of this, but also sometimes you have to take your little kids out into public.
I always hated taking my twins to the grocery or drug store. I always tried to go by myself, but there were times when I just had to take them (like when they were sick and needed medication/special food).
A restaurant is different. We didn’t go to restuarants until our kids were old enough to behave in them.

It's the parents who think that their child can do no wrong and refuse to exercise control over their children who are the real problem. Understood, but I have to wonder about the people who are so put out by a crying baby (and I would consider a 2 year-old a "baby").
But then again, even those people, most of them, don't haul off and smack them like this winner.

Oh,sure,I understand...there are times when it's unavoidable and you have to take your kids with you.
That being said, there are some places where it's asking an awful lot of a very small child to be still and to behave-such as in a restaurant,at a wedding ceremony, etc.
A restaurant is different. We didnt go to restuarants until our kids were old enough to behave in them.
You sound like a very considerate, responsible parent....kudos to you!

I hear that. I think it’s more annoying to be waiting in line behind someone who’s cradling a cell phone, yapping away and trying to write a check for their purchases at the same time. It’s just so rude.
