It could have been a reflex action. Did the kid shut up?

Silly man; doesn’t he realize that only elected officials get to tell people to shut up?

A stranger slaps my kid in a store is going to be very lucky to get a second swipe and shame on me if he is alive to swing the third time.

They would have to identify this guy’s remains from dental records if he’d laid a hand on my child.

Reflex? He grabbed the child.
If he had hit my child the store would have been calling the coroner.
The man is a nut.

Meh, too many spoiled brats out there these days.
Mr. Stephens is clearly of the same mentality as General George S. Patton, but it is the damn democrats and other wimps that are creating such a weak society for America.
No, I don't applaud the police for arresting Mr. Stephens. Many kids (NOTE I DID NOT SAY ALL OF THEM) are totally wild and undisciplined today, and need a spanking every now and again.

Looks like he might have been slapped a few times himself.

Spankings by the parent are not the same thing as a stranger slapping the child in the face.
Two years old cry and throw fits, its part of their job description.

I suspect that you are capable of disciplining your children without outside support.
There is a HUGE difference between good folks like you and the majority of idiots out there posing as parents these days.
Most parents these days would rather be "friends" with their kids rather than be PARENTS.
Mr. Stephens has probably had just about enough of these "friend" parents, and just had a reactionary snap.
I don't blame him at all.

That's why General Patton's detractors said.
Am I supposed to be afraid of your comment given the lack of discipline in many children today?
Since I was not there, I cannot comment on the behavior of the mother.
However, I suspect that there is a lot more to the story than what this article is suggesting.
See the above post about "friend" parents these days as opposed to real parents.
