I need to copy some DVDs of some lectures but have no software. What do you use? thanx
BTTT
Roxio
I’d recommend Nero.
Concur ... Nero is the best Windows software for CD/DVD burning.
I use a A combination of DVD Shrink (to rip) and DVD Decrypter (to burn).
Not exactly for the novice, but they will get the job done 100% of the time.
Both are free.
Oh, and do I want ripping, copying or burning? Cause they seem to categorize them differently.
Ditto on the DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter...they are both free and work very well.
do you have the hardware?
I use this one:
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
Nero, and if you need to remove copy protection, there are some decent free ones out there.
If they’re plain old DVDs without any copy protection, just copy the directories/files to your hard drive and then copy them back to the new DVD.
All Windows, no special software needed.
Thanks. Never heard of them before, so did a search and found these links:

He’s copying lectures, not movies...sure you know that though. :)
Seriously though, that commercial at the beginning of movies MAKES ME WANT to pirate every DVD I rent. I hate it, as well as the one with the girl and guy arguing about it.
I don’t copy DVDs, but if I see that on one, I just about want to do it to spite the morons.
Depends on the situation. I rip DVDs that I have purchased legitimately so my kids don't destroy the original. Once the ripped one is dead, I burn another. I keep the original nice and safely locked away.
DVD Shrink to create an ISO image from the DVD.
Just about any DVD software will burn the ISO.
I use CD Burner XP Pro to burn it.
DvD Shrink
Very legitimate and not a copyright infringement at all regardless of what the MPAA says. I have done that on some DVDs that were getting rather scratched by using anydvd etc. before since I found it an easier combination than dvd shrink plus nero etc.
