I use a program called CloneDVD and you need AnyDVD too. AnyDVD opens the lock and CloneDVD copies the DVD. It can copy ONLY the main title eliminating the ads, previews, PSA's etc.
It's out of the Bahamas (I think. From SlySoft) and I purchased the license a couple of years ago. I use it the same as you - to copy DVD's that my kids WILL destroy.

As long as we're on this very general subject....my (pretty darned old) computer has stopped recognizing CDs and DVDs. I'm always told "insert in drive".
Wassup with that....other than supposed old age?
