I use a A combination of DVD Shrink (to rip) and DVD Decrypter (to burn).
Not exactly for the novice, but they will get the job done 100% of the time.
Both are free.

Oh, and do I want ripping, copying or burning? Cause they seem to categorize them differently.

Nero, and if you need to remove copy protection, there are some decent free ones out there.

Freeware all the way.
DVD Shrink to create an ISO image from the DVD.
Just about any DVD software will burn the ISO.
I use CD Burner XP Pro to burn it.

If your computer came with the read/write DVD drive then it most likely came with the necessary software you need. It will be either Roxio or Nero or some other utility but most likely nero or roxio. If you don’t have the drive then you need to buy it and it will or should come with the necessary copying software.

Sometimes I give away free CD’s of my Christian music to people my husband works with or people they go to church with or what ever. And the sound quality that I get from the Roxio software that came preloaded on my computer, is as good as I get when I pay a company to produce my Country music CD’s for me.

The best products by far to handle any DVD are AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 from Slysoft.
