The “stimulus” only stimulated or saved Government jobs.

I can’t stand people who wait for the government to hand them a job.

Did not Barry proclaim that he would create, not save, 600,000 jobs this summer alone?

“I can’t stand people who wait for the government to hand them a job.”

I must have stated this wrong...I am not looking for a government job. I am looking in the private sector. I was indicating that the stimulus package was supposed to create all kinds of work...private and government. It was going to save us all!
I must have missed something.

You know The $1.4 TRILLION dollar ‘emergency’ spending bill they needed?

They have only spent 10% of the money so far.

I think if you promise to vite democrap just before the next election there will be some money for you

There are jobs but you will likely have to take a pay cut.

One of my cousins has been unemployed (cept for low pay part time work) for over a year and a half. She has a Masters degree.

Guess who she voted for? Guess who she and her friends support?

Hasn't been for some time now. I know a lot of IT people who have been out of work for well over a year.

You can count my husband among those. Just announced today that the company I work for is either going (i) to close; or (ii) be sold. Nice people own the company, they've said their priority is their techs first and their customers second. The company that is negotating to buy them out has mentioned keeping the techs, but hasn't signed on the dotted line yet. The owners have told us they will kill the non-compete agreements so we can keep our customers if it helps us.

We live where we do for my mother-in-law. When the time comes she is no longer with us, we are going to move to the country and find ways to be a LOT more self-sufficient.

I have an acquaintance who has been unemployed for a year. Of course, he says he doesn’t want any dead end jobs, yet doesn’t want to work in customer service of any kind and has a list of expectancies that are ridiculous (dressing casual, being able to nap during break time, listening to music on his computer). One guess who he voted for. Because ten years down the road he will still say his failures are Bush’s fault.

One of the most sobering things some people eventually must learn is that a college education -- and even an advanced degree -- is no guarantee of anything when it comes to your employment situation.

In my opinion, things like work ethic, personal character, excellent oral/written communication skills and flexibility to do different types of work (and maybe in different geographic areas) are the most important attributes a person can have in a tight job market.

I'm always amazed to see jobs posted for very long periods of time and left unfilled because of a lack of qualified candidates.
