Posting embedded video on forums threads is common among internet discussion sites. I don't see why we can't have that on FR. It won't put any additional burden on the FR servers and will save posters and readers the inconvenience of leaving FR to visit an external site (Youtube, etc). Policy makers please consider this. Thanks.
LMAO!
Uh, no.
Leave your Crash Flash where it belongs. We already have enough trouble with cretins who can't leave well enough alone when it comes to still images. Don't give them any ideas.
Sorry, but I didn't (and still don't) know what the heck you're talking about.
I’ve learned to hate video when there is no print of what is said on the video. Some of us can’t hear well enough for videos. A better rule is for the thread poster to explain what’s said on the video.
What is so difficult about clicking on a link?
Has there been a general ban on Helen Thomas pics?
I hope so... we need to put that one to bed! Old as dirt, and pretty lame...
Nope, far as I know, the Thomas pics are still flying.
What I had in mind was the cretins who haven’t a clue as to the many on dial-up here, or they don’t care. There’s even one complete dumbass, that goes by at least 4 Freeper names, who can only respond with a picture. He’s never in his life posted a paragraph. All he does is post threads, so he can fulfill his obsession with responding to others via pictures only, and sometimes they are as nonsensical as the day is long.
It’s not a matter of being a geek. It’s a simple matter of efficiency. Video appeals primarily to the crowd who cannot read anymore quickly than listen. I hate video because I can read 10 transcripts of 5 minutes worth of dialogue each in the time it takes to listen to 1.
The old Dell I’m using with Windows 98 stalls out then Adobe Flash comes up with a prompt... Movie script slow won’t work whatdaya wanna do.??..Its a pain in the ass. 1st because I’m not interested in their selection.... 2nd it takes too much time to load ... I wish they’d just announce what it is and post a link to it... instead of having it tie up my already poor confused computer.
Yeah, those awful image posting cretins are almost as bad as the people who expect everyone else to adjust themselves to the lowest common denominator.
Instead of getting upset with people, why not try using technology to solve your problem instead of imposing it on everyone else.
This should do the trick for Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1672
I don’t use the Opera browser, but it seems from this description that it has this ability by default, so you might want to consider that as well. I recommend Firefox, since the addons are very robust. Adblock Plus will make it so you never see another advertisement on the web again, which will also probably make your connections faster.
I have a one word argument against this... revski.
Those with broadband can quickly click, load and watch a video on another page. We with dial-up would have to wait much longer to even load the original page the “embed” link would be on.
Multiple embeds would kill the site for dial-up and I think there are a *lot* of rural and other folk that would find this a terrible barrier to enjoying FR - all to save yourself at most two clicks.
Low bandwidth and an efficent site with links to the bandwidth hogs seems most appropriate, IMO.
No, I’ve got a better idea. Instead of you lowest common denominator types expecting us to have to grab every add-on around, how about you simply link to your crap?
dial-up-er here!
Did you know that a 1 minute utube takes about half an hour or more to download? it is nerve wrecking hearing 2 seconds of audio then waiting three minutes for the next 2 seconds. Waterboarding for ears.
I love this site with plain text only. Love the pics also, but if the thread is overloaded with them, the page doesn't quite fully load. Life is pain being so behind the times.
I'm so jealous of you broad-band guys.
Embedded videos are one of the most annoying things on the internet. I vote no if it comes to that. Of course I have ABP set to block youtube’s embedded links, so even if the man votes yes my no vote will still carry.
Okay, so you’re a selfish cretin.
