By more than a two-to-one margin, Americans believe the Democratic Party is better suited to getting the country out of a recession over the Republican Party, according to the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll to be released today.
Almost half of all respondents, 48%, identified the Democratic Party, while just one in five, or 20%, said the Republican Party. Some 8% said both parties were equally qualified, while 16% said neither party was qualified.
Comparatively, in December 1990 when the U.S. economy was also going through a recession, the Democratic and Republican parties tied at 33% when asked who was best to lead through a recession.

Hmmmmm!
Seems like women are the Democrats primary support. Certainly the only ones who Obama can get to work for him.
Soros country!
Too late. The RNC has already been hijacked by a Democrat sleeper agent.
I didn't look yet, or try to figure it out, but just to satisfy my curiosity are you an independent or a libertarian?
...polls were taken of Detroit city workers and Morehouse College students...
True. Unfortunately, the GOP is too busy getting schooled by the Machiavellian genius' in the Whitehouse. Obama is leading them and the conservative talk-radio chattering class around like a bunch of diaper-wearing toddlers.

That is a blatantly sexist remark! LOL!!! She can’t help it if she WANTS him ;) LOL!!!!
WSJ news more liberal than the NYT.
NBC? they just make up news
Commie propaganda.
“Americans will love Obama no matter what.”
Their level of suffering has not been brought to the tipping point yet. However that moment is fast approaching and will be amusing to watch. Rumblings are already beginning.
Most of his supporters are drug dealers, drug addicts, homeless, unemployed people eating junk food all day, or young sluts who don't know anything about politics and will blame Republicans no matter what. So I disagree.
one analyst on CNBC today said we are in a Depression.
He also said Obama is now activly obstructing the recovery.
I think this is where Republicans can win the argument.
“OBAMA IS BLOCKING THE RECOVERY”
On the other hand, instead of holding our elected representatives' feet to the fire, we can wet our pants because private citizens say things we don't like to each other.
BTW, this poll result is good news. When the economy fails to improve, as Obama intends for it not to, the challenge to the GOP will be how to harvest the votes of all the disaffected morons who currently believe in the Obama Tooth Fairy.
That, and making sure the 2010 elections actually happen.
The level of suffering I am talking about will make even these types people squawk or even dead. We haven’t seen anything yet. This is only the beginning of America’s coming tribulations.
Democrats are identified as superior in this category (by "Americans" a worthless categorization for polling purposes if ever there was one in the first place) because they actually have a brand, and have been repeating over and over again that "free markets have failed." In contrast to this nonsense, only "talk show hosts" have actually taken the lead in noting that it was in fact government interference in the markets which brought us to this pass to begin with. Sadly, Mr. Steel and the titular Party Head, Mr. McCain, have mumbled great gobs of lunacy about how there's "plenty of blame to go around." In the average "American" mind that translates into: "we are to blame." Wisely, the Democrats are having none of it, even if the blame is mostly theirs; the power of prevarication has never been lost on the bad guys.
Thank God we have at least the "talk show hosts." Maybe someday we'll actually get some Party leadership. Until then, the power struggle internally will go on.
And it should.
The talk show host can defend himself. He’s not the head of the Republicans. He doesn’t even presume to speak for the Republicans. What Republicans should do is stop fighting with each other, and fight with the Democrats. Please don’t echo the Democrats’ line.
It may be a trash poll but it makes headlines and stupid Americans believe it as truth and then form opinions and then vote Democrat. Until we can control the media we are dead as a party. They kick our behinds every week with poll numbers showing the GOP as the problem rather than the solution.
It’s our fault because we (meaning individuals) don’t do our level best to educate the wandering masses of ignorance that inhabit our country. We will never control the media.
“The GOP, however, DOES need to make the point the Dems took Congress in 2006”
I don’t understand why the GOP doesn’t repeat that fact over and over. No GOP person should ever appear on any radio or TV program without making that point. Then make it again just for good measure.
the GOP hasn’t spent any time defending a talk show host. Steele called Limbaughs show “ugly”
the media is carrying Democrat water 100%
