CALIFORNIA CITY - In an effort to curb vicious dog attacks, the city council will consider an ordinance aimed at regulating ownership of pit bulls and Rottweilers during its regular meeting Tuesday. The meting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall, 21000 Hacienda Blvd.
The proposed breed-specific ordinance will require owners of pit bulls and Rottweilers to register their dogs under a special breed registration, in addition to the regular dog license. This registration will have an additional fee of $100 and require owners to provide a recent photograph of the dog.
No more than two pit bulls or Rottweilers may be registered or located at a single household.
In addition, the proposed ordinance calls for all pit bulls and Rottweilers to be spayed or neutered, with proof of the procedure displayed on the premises where the dog is quartered.
The dogs also must complete an approved obedience course and display proof of the course completion.
The proposed ordinance specifies how such dog breeds must be housed and handled.
They must be kept completely confined by at least a six-foot fence, with self-locking gates and installed in such a way as to prevent dogs from escaping under the fence. Signs warning that a pit bull or Rottweiler is confined must be posted on the fence every 10 feet.
Away from the owner's property, the dogs must be muzzled and on a leash no longer than four feet. No one younger than 21 may have possession of the dogs off the owner's property.
Additionally, the proposed ordinance states that pit bulls and Rottweilers may not be bred for contest and may not be given steroids.

Big Brother is watching.
FReeper animal lovers probably don't do that, I'm guessing.
A show of hands please, all who first read the headline as “Cat City.”
6 foot high fence? HA!! My friends Pit literally vaults over a 6 foot high block wall. They have had to stake him to the backyard on a long tether.
The fence (if it’s chain link) will provide the dog(s) the means to climb it and escape.
Just more knee jerk reactions to stupid dog owners who won’t take responsibility and institute proper measures to control their animals.

I would think a dog without any nuts would be ample confirmation that neutering did, in fact, take place.
One would think they'd be more concerned with the owner rather than the particular breed of dog. I can think of two reasons for steroids and neither are legal - dog fights and protection of crack houses. But hey, passing ridiculous laws is a lot less work than actually going out and cleaning up the city.
Let’s see. On the one hand are respectable citizens and parents who don’t want their children mauled or killed by some drug dealer’s vicious dog as they walk home from school. On the other hand are the owners of pit bulls, drug dealers and otherwise, who love their insane, vicious dogs.
How about permitting the ownership of pit bulls, provided all their teeth are pulled out?
I suppose they will take the dog’s gun away too.
Bunch of fags if you ask me.
I have given one of my dogs steroids before but she was allergic to everything including grass.
Coughed like an asmathic.
The whole country is collasping in front of our eyes, financially, and all they can think to do is regulate dog owners.
Type alert. Collasping = collapsing.
Collasping is what happens when you belt breaks.
It's a "Self Image" thing... Neuticles

There are sometimes vet med reasons for steriods— autoimmune problems, etc.
There have been a few times we’ve had to give prednisone to some of our dogs in the past...
