Ok, a vanity about UFOs no less but....I'll lay it out as I saw it....
On Wednesday 10/15/08 at @ 17:35 I was on the SW corner of Northern Blvd. and 254 Street in Little Neck, Queens, NYC. Conditions were CAVU. My grandson, a friend (40s) and I watched two very small white objects remain motionless at avery high altitude. They were high enough for a commercial jet to pass well below them. At @ 17:52 they disappeared. They did not transit the sky, they just disappeared.

So have I, in November after DST ends. This was bright blue daylight sky.

Where in the sky was this? Directly overhead, towards the east, what? How high above the horizon?
If it was a geosynchronous satellite or two, it would be about where all the Direct TV dishes are pointing...

I don't know exactly what I saw, iow, I can't identify it. Nothing in my experience or education satisfies my question about it. I'm just reporting things exactly as I saw them.
I want to conduct more research to affirm your claim regarding the brazilian.
LOL I had to check the URL in the browser window because your reply and the post you were responding to had me thinking I was on fark.
Satellites? Highly reflective space junk? Maybe even another airliner... JFK is in the area, so is it possible the one you saw was flying lower than usual because it was coming into or out of the airport?
Stars and unusual viewing conditions — probably atmoshpeheric disturbance.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm, that's the U in UFO...
Since it was getting near to sunset, perhaps they were two airplanes that momentarily caught and reflected the sun’s light. This happens all the time with planes in the western sky around sunset. Or, perhaps, they were two really distant planes who had been coming straight towards you with headlines on which then changed direction.
I saw the video... I have no doubt that people saw this.. whatever it was.. we don’t know..... did the objects you saw rotate like these did ? or do you think the person who was videoing this caused the cam to turn ,, therefore the objects rotating ?
They were ballons. If the ballons path of altitude increase is at an angle that is in line with your line of sight it would give the apperance of being in one place. But in fact it is climbing higher and away from you at the same time.
And it may not have even been anything more then a couple of small ballons.
I release maybe fifty ballons a week, sometimes even more.
Of course “UFO” simply means “unidentified flying object”, not necessarily a ‘flying saucer’ or even Screwy Louie Farrakhan’s great ‘Mother Ship’ that he says is out there somewhere. He actually does say this.

We live between flight paths for JFK and LGA. Trans-Atlantic traffic from other cities transits here at higher altitudes. Frequently we just see a speck and contrails. It is the rare hour when there is no visible air traffic. The jet that flew beneath the objects was way too high to be in a landing or take off path.
