- Angus & Co., WE SALUTE YOU!!!
I'm not sure regarding the exact date, but at least I know Ac/Dc formed in Sydney back in 1973 (- does anyone here on the greatest Conservative site on the Internet happen to know the exact date?)
AC/DC is one of my favorite rock bands and all of Australia indeed ought to be very, very proud of them.
AC/DC are admirable out of many reasons. Three of them stands out from my point of view:
1. Their conservatism; while most bands that have been around for some time, sooner or later, tend to surrender to the idea of experimentation and playing in styles they haven't "explored" before - while they simultaneously seem to lose vigor, hunger, adrenaline, guts and spirit (for instance, I personally was disappointed with Metallica already by their second album - the only track I really enjoyed upon hearing it for the first time was Trapped Under Ice) - Ac/Dc remains Ac/Dc.
- The way they came back after the tragic death of lead vocalist Bon Scott. R.I.P. Bon and regards to his family! Life goes on. Just like Ac/Dc.
- The way in which Ac/Dc always have managed to gain appreciation by all sorts of people without being "mainstream". I recall hanging out at a bar here in Gothenburg, Sweden where 70-80% of the guests were yuppies sometime around 1990 and watching most of those Gecko wannabees (remember the 1987 film Wall Street? "- Lunch is for wimps!":D) starting to sing along and cheer.
The only thing one really could object against when it comes to Ac/Dc, is their flirtation with Satanism. However, I suspect it to be very much a matter of marketing strategy and I'm not sure the band itself is the main drive behind this part of their image (which seems to have been more or less abandoned by today). I don't believe them to be real devil worshipers.
In any case, they're not a bunch of Feminists.
But what if they actually were?
A legendary Ac/Dc song like T.N.T. might have appeared something like this:
Oi, oi, oi, oi, oi, oi, oi, oi, oi, oi, oi, oi, oi, oi, oi
See me foaming at the mouth On your color TV screen Out for all that I can get If you know what I mean Women to the left of me And women to the right Ain't got no man Ain't got no life But don't you start no fight
CHORUS: 'Cause I've got P.M.S, I'm dynamite P.M.S. - and I'll win the fight P.M.S., I'm a power load P.M.S., watch me explode
I'm dirty, mean and mighty unclean I'm a ranting dyke Public enemy number one Understand So lock up your daughter Lock up your wife Lock up your back door And run for your life The bitch is back in town I don't shave my legs
CHORUS P.M.S. Oi, oi, oi P.M.S. Oi, oi, oi P.M.S. Oi, oi, oi P.M.S. Oi, oi, oi P.M.S. Oi I'm dynamite (oi, oi) P.M.S. Oi, And I'll win the fight, P.M.S. I'm power mad P.M.S. Watch me explode
---
By they way:
Q: - What's the differece between a gang of fanatical terrorists and a bunch of feminists suffering from P.M.S.?
A:- You can negotiate with the terrorists.
Angus Young likes to tell the story of how they noticed more rather efeminate men showing up at their shows and whistling at him in his shorts. They also were booked into gay clubs early on as a result of their name.
bWAHAHAHAHAAH!!! As a guitar wannabe (not enough time) that is funny (and true)
AC/DC - Live Version of 'Bad Boy Boogie'
Awesome!!
“Angus Young likes to tell the story of how they noticed more rather efeminate men showing up at their shows and whistling at him in his shorts. They also were booked into gay clubs early on as a result of their name.”
- Hahahahaha!!
Haven’t heard about this before, although its well known, even in my part of the world, that AC/DC is slang for bisexual.
By the way:
Bisexual (parody of “Bicycle Race” by Queen)
Bisexual bisexual bisexual
I want to try it
Bisexual bisexual bisexual
I want to date a bisexual
I want to date a dyke
I want to date a bisexual
I cant decide which sex I like
Is it wrong? Is it right?
If youre weird Im uptight!
Is that strange?
Let me say, man, guys were never my scene
But I do like show tunes
I want guys!
I want girls!
Why deprive half the world?
Am I gay? Am I straight?
I dont think Im a Peter Pan, Nancy boy or girly man,
Cause all I want to be is
Bisexual bisexual bisexual
I just might be a bisexual bisexual bisexual
I think I might be bisexual
Theres nothing I dont like
I want to try it bisexual
I cant decide which
Bisexual datings the in-thing today
That Brad Pitts such a cutie, Oh, yeah
Taking your swings from both sides of the plate
You get twice as much booty, Oh, yeah
On your marks, get set, go
Bisexual bisexual bisexual
Bisexual bisexual bisexual
I want to date a
Bisexual bisexual bisexual
I want to date a bisexual
I want to date a dyke
I want to date a bisexual
I cant decide which sex I like
- Awesome is the word.
AC/DC are legends in their own time.
AC/DC are as musically gifted as The Beatles in the sense their music always strikes the listener immediately and goes straight into his/her body, mind and soul, without being watered down to PC, anemic nonsense.
AC/DC remain true to the spirit of good hearted rebellion just like The Rolling Stones, but without tons of embarrassing fag dancing.
CORRECTION:
“I recall hanging out at a bar here in Gothenburg, Sweden where 70-80% of the guests were yuppies sometime around 1990 and watching most of those Gecko wannabees (remember the 1987 film Wall Street? “- Lunch is for wimps!”:D) starting to sing along and cheer.”
-...as the DJ all of a sudden chose to play “T.N.T.” I forgot to mention.
Gomen nasai!
Well color me “thunderstruck!”
The Call of Ktulu (fabulous guitar work), Creeping Death ( i know this was released in europe on an earlier EP)...that whole album is great. The best guitar work out of any of their albums in my opinion. Master of Puppets wasn’t bad either. It went downhill after that.
I’m more of a Bon Scott fan when it comes to AC/DC. But the early Brian Johnson stuff is good to. I hearken back to the days of Sin City and Aint No Fun Waiting Round to be a Millionaire. AC/DC and Metallica were my favorite bands in the 80s.
- I visited Florida once.
I had a great time.
My Aryan skin cracked upon being exposed to the subtropical sun, junk food tasted worse but was cheaper compared to Europe, everyone was very friendly and after having feasted on 24 Japanese bottles of beers - by the brand of Asahi - I managed to climb the 10-foot fence between the beach and the hotel we stayed at (my ex-girlfriend decided to use a door within this very structure instead, for some reason I assumed it was locked in the evenings).
Metal Ping!
At least it starts out that way...
Their music is FUN FUN FUN!!!!
***Do you have their address? Id like to send them a 4th chord to play for their birthday.***
LOL!
The intro to Thunderstruck isn’t too hard.
It took the Highway to Hell album to get 24 hour a day Ted Nugent off my player. Pickin's were slim in the late '70s. Been a big fan ever since.
About their name, I seen an interview with Angus a long time ago where he was asked if the name AC/DC had bisexual overtones or if it stood for, "After Christ Devil Comes," and all the other speculations of the time about the meaning of their name. In typical laid back Angus fashion, (although he looked a little pissed about the stupidity of it all), he said, "Powah...it stands for powah." I guess that's where the lightning strike comes in.
I have since read that Angus' sister came up with band's name off of an old vacuum cleaner.
I do still believe what an old video tape of them says on the back, "The band you want on your side when World War III begins."
Their album Ride The Lightning is a masterpiece. The only real difference between Metallica of today and AC/DC throughout the years is, Metallica sold it's soul to the record companies and music execs after spending a better part of their earlier years underground building up a huge fan following.
I love Angus’ onstage antics. He credits Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Leslie West, and other blues/rock and roll players as his influences.
