Very well, if you insist ...
... although it seems only appropriate,
that it be anatomically correct.
The Heart is a Fist-Shaped Organ
The heart is a fist-sized organ,
That works throughout the day,
It clenches and throbs with a rhythm,
And it hasnt much time for play.
Our hearts have grown used to grabbing,
And holding on for dear life,
Its hard to know that we must relax,
Amid all the tumult and strife.
The music it beats to is distant,
In quiet we hear it the best,
Thats when we stop all the straining,
And thats when the heart takes a rest.
It isnt just muscle that does the work,
But a cycle, (I thought you might ask!),
Like an oar lifted out of the water,
That then bends once again to the task.
In order to function as its designed,
It must squeeze a bit, and then let go,
And just like the times of excitement,
It can race, or it can go slow.
Our loved ones enter to fill us,
They empty us when they must leave,
Oh, what a hurtful happiness!
The sad joy that compels us to grieve.
Cupids arrows are just tiny wedges,
Finding chinks in the armor to slip,
To batter the stony exterior,
With a lifetime to loosen the grip.
Like a hand that can clench or be gentle,
Now held open to something above.
The heart is a fist-sized organ,
Thats receiving an inflow of love.

Erk!
The title is supposed to be "The Heart is a Fist-Sized Organ", as in the first line.
And as it was originally posted, under the inspiration of Tasmanian Red.

PrissyMissy just got home from AWANA meeting. She earned 2 more jewels for her crown today. She was so proud. I don’t know much about AWANA but she loves it and it is good for her.
She’s had her bath and is ready for bed.
Hope your day was lovely.

"I dont know much about AWANA but she loves it and it is good for her." I think they teach the kids to shop.
Weren't you a little surprised when she asked to borrow your credit card?

Guess Who?
There is surprising talent here, in many varied forms.
A welcome blessing in a place where every heart just warms.
When you first see a name you think now what is that about?
And then you get the point when someone puts the story out.
Sometimes it can sneak up on you and make you think a bit.
That thinking is the reason that your FRiend has chosen it.
My own name is a fluke I guess. Its really no big deal,
By now of course Ive seen some names that I would like to steal!
Ill have to stay the course for now, Im stuck with what I chose,
Too late to get a better one to post with, I suppose.
If you have yet to choose one I will give you some advice.
Keep your name real short or no one ever types it twice.

Growing Through Grief
READ:
Psalm 119:65-80It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes. Psalm 119:71
A woman who lost her husband of 40 years to a sudden heart attack said that the resulting grief had caused her to value love more. When she heard couples arguing, she sometimes spoke to them, saying, You dont have time for this. She noted that the wasted moments in all our lives become more precious when they cannot be repeated.
Grief changes our perspective on life. It is trite but true that how we deal with sorrow will make us either bitter or better. In a remarkable statement, the psalmist actually thanked God for a difficult experience: Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your word. . . . It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes (Ps. 119:67,71).
We dont know the nature of the psalmists affliction, but the positive outcome was a longing to obey the Lord and a hunger for His Word. Rarely can we use this truth to comfort those who hurt. Instead, it is the Lords word to us from His compassionate heart and the touch from His healing hand.
When we grieve, it feels more like dying than growing. But as God wraps His loving arms around us, we have the assurance of His faithful care.
I have been through the valley of weeping,
The valley of sorrow and pain;
But the God of all comfort was with me,
At hand to uphold and sustain. Anon.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:15
