Once more from the article:
These same banks account for nearly two-thirds of the sellers here. In other words, the market is still deeply diseased, just shedding its more gangrenous flesh. Up and left Floridians, meanwhile, still have to live here, striving for normalcy as their society shrivels around them. Cape Coral, more upscale than Lehigh Acres, lies on the other side of Fort Myers, surrounded by the clear water of the Gulf. It's the second biggest city in Florida by size, with more canals and water access than any city in America. A vast, rambling place with no core and ghost towns on its edges. I met a woman named Connie there, living in a bungalow. She allowed herself to be coaxed out into the flat March sunlight on the promise that her family name wouldn't be used. She's embarrassed by the state of her neighbourhood and probably embarrassed by her own impending eviction. The house next door is empty. Foreclosed. The one two doors down is empty, never occupied. The family across the street abandoned their home a year ago. Just packed up and left.Sounds great. I'll move there soon. Can't wait to become a local like the Georgians, um, er....you.....

The house next door is empty. Foreclosed. The one two doors down is empty, never occupied. The family across the street abandoned their home a year ago. Just packed up and left.Sounds a lot like Michigan--except for the lack of glaciers, rusting, boarded-up factories and daily drive-by shootings.
meanwhile, millions of students are enjoying their annual spring break getaway to America's playground, Michigan ...
To: catpuppy
Yes, the drive by shooters always ride the glaciers in order to rob the boarded up factories.........
I can't help but notice the defensiveness about your problems down there....tsk, tsk, tsk......however, the article does seem to suggest the state of Floriduh is giving lots of deals to come down there (free grouper um, er, fish sammiches), so for the two months of bad weather here, cheap deals to hit some warmth are just fine.

the two months of bad weather herePut down the snow blower and check yourself into the nearest rehab clinic. You are becoming a threat to yourself.
by the way, you seem to be confusing months with seasons and getting the numbers wrong. Allow me to correct it for you:
for the two months of consistently bad weather here in this frozen wasteland, cheap deals to hit some warmth are just fine.
To: catpuppy
check yourself into the nearest rehab clinic. You are becoming a threat to yourself.Mere projection. Attempts to get off your apparent addiction to hot, flat, ugly appear to be futile............living amidst that must be hard, I know...........

living amidst that must be hard, I know...........Yes, it's true. Why for the past couple of hours I've had to struggle along the beach, picking my way through the crowds of bikini clad ladies as they sunned themselves in the warm sunshine. It was terribly difficult. Sometimes I envy your hermit life in the world's icebox.
but that madness passes within about 2 microseconds ...

FOFLOL. What fun. :)
Sharky, dear, precious, sharky, its absolutely glorius here today, has been for 2 or 3 weeks. So sunny and warm.
All the trees are leafed out and it looks like everythig is in bloom. The city is always at its best in March. Its simply beautiful here and all around the area.

Careful, Darlin’. With all that hot talk he might thaw too fast and make an awful mess.
To: Darlin'; catpuppy
Miss Darlin, so good to see you again. Thought you had fallen off the earth or sumpin.
I have always known you have two months of weather better than ours. March. Half of.....April. Those two months are not so good up here, weatherwise. Can't really ski, not really spring. Hey, I'd even say that it would be possible to look over Floriduh's bad traits for those few weeks..........

Shoveling snow? Its springtime, a time for weeding and sprucing up the landscape with lots and lots of beautiful new flowers not for shoveling snow. :)
