Does anyone know what happened to Glenn? I saw some of his you tube video and he looks horrible. Just guessing but from the little big I heard it sounded like the hospital gave him the wrong medicine or something after surgery...
Sounds like they had him so (accidentally) high on drugs that coming down made him suicidal.....
Sounds like a stone in the ureter. I had three surgeries, one invasive that failed, involving, you know, that. After I came to from the invasive attempt to get at it, they had me hooked to a bag strapped to my leg. I had to function like this for 5 days on meds every 4 hours. By the 4th day I was going loony from the meds but couldn’t bear the pain, couldn’t even go to the bathroom without crying. I’m guessing because he’s a white guy who used to drink a lot that it’s a kidney issue. It’s a painful deal until they get that little sucker out of there. He needs to take Flomax for the rest of his life to cut down on the recurrence. Doctors are starting to think the pressure of your internal systems affects stone creation so anything that relax and lowers blood pressure is going to be of benefit. All supposition at this point because the drug hasn’t been studied that long.
I thought he said that it was a scheduled surgery. So it would have been something planned ahead of time.
I take neurontin (orally) every day. It’s a Godsend for me. I wonder if the patch is worse? Anyway, sorry you had a bad experience.

Oh, they gave me that in lollipop form for a procedure (injection into my SI joint). Not only did it not help with the pain, I was sick as a dog for 2 days afterwards.

I think neurontin is gabapentin (hope I spelled that right)

Don’t know what you’re injury was but neurotin is used for nerve pain as it affects the neurotransmitters in some way. It does not good, for instance, if I have a headache (I still have to take aspirin) or for my arthritis pain, but it does a very good job on my neuropathy pain in my hands and feet.

God bless you for being there for your Mom. I bet she’s very grateful to have you as her advocate and caretaker.
Praying for traveling mercies for you, for wisdom and discernment as you keep abreast of what’s happening, and for strength to continue to oversee things and stand up to the docs as needed.
>> sounds to me like Glenn went in for a scheduled surgery and a horrible nurse was assigned to him.
probably nurse Ratchett
Ingrown toenail.
Thank you. I am humbled by your prayers. I talked with the Doc late yesterday and she says that Mom is doing much better. I am struggling now with whether to go back down so soon. I had wanted to wait until late Feb. when they do all the follow up to see if they got all of the cancer, etc.
Sis says to wait until Monday before I decide. I left the day her chemo & radiation trips were over, but had no idea that when folks stop chemo & radiation is when things get so bad for them for up to 3 weeks afterwards.
It is all so hard. Cancer affects everyone in the family and caretakers with families of their own are often torn between competing duties back at home. My hubby has been a rock though and my son just graduated college a year ago, so I have it better than alot of folks dealing with cancer.
Thanks again for your words of encouragement and your prayers.
I have a pain management Dr. and he is wonderful. My sister also has one as she is recovering from cancer and also has RA and is facing hip replacement surgey. (I'm only facing back surgery).
I feel that pain management is very helpful.
Praise God that you were encouraged AND that your Mom is doing better. I pray that will continue.
Cancer is even more difficult these days when families often live hundreds of miles from each other. But thank God for quick modes of transportation and telephones and other means of communication. It makes it a little bit easier to be in two places at once. :)
Praying God will give you direction about when to go and when to stay. Your dedication is an inspiration to me!
They have a pain management staff at the cancer center and we will be talking with them soon. It should be time to ween her off the harder drugs pretty soon (hopefully).
In 1999 she was in a horrible accident and when they released her from the hospital (3 months later) she just decided one day to stop her meds because she wasn’t in horrible pain anymore. To make a long story short, she started having full fledged withdrawals. She was addicted to morphine and had no clue! Now we can laugh about it, but it wasn’t funny at the time. She thought she was going crazy and so did we....LOL
Then....the only way medicare would pay for treating her was if she was put in a drug addiction center for 30 days! It was horrible. That’s government healthcare at work folks....LOL
My speculation was that it was some sort of cosmetic surgery. A person in media needs to constantly rethink how he looks on camera and this is not the sort of surgery that a macho type of guy would readily admit.
This is important.
Can it go in breaking?
