Is there a standard procedure here for having a private conversation with a moderator?
You actually made a good point, there ought to be a better way than just the "abuse" button. But the way you phrased it - about having "private conversations with moderators" - is the sort of unintentionally funny post that sometimes become legendary here, like "I'll be in the shower", or "I've been staring at the sun for the last hour", or "Am I logged on?"
If you check with the previous victims who asked an earnest question and got a little sarcastic humor in response, most of them will tell you that the best thing to do is have a sense of humor about it and keep moving along. That is especially important advice if you wish to participate in politics.
Need some spiritual help?
Some of us seem to have a knack for getting the undivided attention of the Religion Mod.
You did that on your own. Fifteen minutes after you began this Vanity thread in Chat forum you then began a duplicate Vanity thread in the News forum apparently after your not receiving enough attention from this thread.
Because this first Vanity thread was current and active, it was moved to the News forum to replace your duplicate second Vanity thread which was pulled and is referenced below.

Sorry to post this in the news forum, but I'm having trouble getting a serious response in chat. Is there a standard procedure here for having a private conversation with a moderator?
That is a good question why is FR becoming so relax with street talk?
Sure it is.
You certainly are very articulate.
Just because this will go down in Freeper lore I have to post.

I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uhmmm, some people out there in our nation dont have maps and uh, I believe that our, I, education like such as uh, South Africa, and uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uhhh, our education over here in the US should help the US, uh, should help South Africa, it should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future, for us.
;)
You’ve got that right.
I bet you’re a lot of fun at parties.
MAX: Why, I once had a PRIVATE conversation with the LEAD MODERATOR.
SIGFRIED: I find that hard to believe.
M: Would you believe some street-corner banter with a dozen hard-core FReepers?
S: I don’t think so.
M: How about an ignominious post in an ex-chat thread?
BUMP for the HTML newbies!! :)
Lol!
I blame the MONK. ;-D

Telling you to shove it was wrong, and I’m sorry.
