Vista is the bastard child of Millenium Edition.
Service Pack 1 is lipstick on a pig.

I opted out of Vista with my new Dell laptop, but I retain the certificate if I ever wanted to make the gamble.
I’ve never had any problems with XP Professional.

I was at my Dad’s over Thanksgiving. He’s really sorry he got a Vista machine. I have no intention of “upgrading” my two XP machines any time soon. They’re running fine.

Yeah and what burns me the most is that they try to force Vista on everyone. I cant even use directx 10. wtf?
Love me some XP though! mmmm, mmmmm...

I love Vista, sort of. It’s a nice user interface, and it has a really cool feature that lets you start typing stuff and it finds it in the start menu, which is enormously helpful. HOWEVER, the fact that several of my apps totally stopped working just because I moved to Vista really really pisses me off.

They tested a beta service pack. Vista is much more secure than Windows XP. Its so new hackers have yet to write malware for it.

Isn’t it part of the EULA that you will not publish any results of benchmarking tests?
I heard that somewhere.

I'm a multi-Mac guy who runs XP (as well as OS X) on 3 Macs, and Vista on one.
Every time I boot into Vista, it makes me laugh out loud that anybody could have thought it to be a viable consumer OS.
It's big, it's slow, and it's like driving an aircraft carrier after a speedboat.
And, oh yes -Vista is running on a 3.0 GHz 8-core Xeon Mac Pro with 8 GB of RAM.

Say, does anyone on this computer thread (or another) want to answer some questions I have about graphics cards for laptops? I don’t feel like posting a whole new thread. Please advise if you are interested.

The primary purpose of Vista was not to give more power to the user, but to take power away, in the form of Digital Rights Management.
Why would sane consumers pay more for less?
