Has anyone used asiahotels.com, hotels.com or expedia.com to reserve rooms in Japan?
We want to reserve rooms in Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kyoto and I'd appreciate any referrals to these sites. If you have any hotels/sights you've enjoyed, please let me know!
Thanks
My favorite travel search site is kayak.com....it is a meta search and usually finds the best deals.
The Manhattan branch office number is 1-800-235-3523. The other branch numbers and information can be found at http://www.jtbusa.com/enhome/branchinfo.asp but here are some offices:
Been there, they still hold it against us for nuking Nagasaki and Hiroshima. They are not taught that they started the war nor the atrocities they committed.
They don’t like us. Go to Australia instead.
My wife's aunt and a cousin died at Nagasaki. No one in her family "holds it against us".
Maybe they just didn't like you.
I’m with you on this one. I have heard from a Japanese engineer I worked with that the bombing saved his life. He was supposed to do a suicide mission if the US attacked.
I use asiarooms.com and ctrip.com for all my inter-Asia travel needs. Good prices, staff communicates via e-mail in pretty good English (if desired).
Well said.
Maybe they just didn't like you.
LOL!!
Thank’s to all for your help.
Actually I’ve been to Japan twice in the Tokyo/Yokohama areas. The last time we were there was right after our submarine surfaced and hit their ship killing many teenagers. We were braced for possible backlash about that but didn’t get one bad comment. Everyone was their wonderful and kind selves. We did, however, apologize to several acquaintances for the accident.
We’ve had such a wonderful experience we are going to hop the JR trains for a week!
The pastor of my church was assigned to fly a Sakura jet as well, but the bomb saved his life. He fell into the yazuka, got saved at a tent revival, and now is a professor at a seminary.
MY OPINION about traveling in Japan is: get on the ground, find a foreigner friendly newsletter or grab a local foreigner and find a gaijin ‘foreigner’ house to stay in. You’ll end up spending $30 a night instead of $200 a night in Tokyo. I stayed at one in the middle of Akasaka, Tokyo, for $60 a night and it was great.
Please quit abusing the sidebars. This isn’t an editorial. This is barely chat material.

I’m envious. My wife was there for three months late last year while her mother was ill but I haven’t been there since 2004. We’re looking at going next summer, probably about this time.
I think the JTB idea someone had is good place to start. I’ve the sites you mentioned but never used them.
I have never encountered the reaction you describe. And I have had many discussions with a lot of Japanese folks on WWII as well as a number of other topics. Folks of all ages - from 12 years of age to 80 + years old.
I think your comment is far less than accurate. While one might well encounter a Japanese with hostility or ill-will resulting from our use of nuclear weapons...by that same token, a person like that isn't going to go out of their way to make buddy-buddy with someone they might despise.
While I do think Austrailia is a fine place to vacation, the topic here is Japan.
great,
just telling what i saw felt and was told.
