Actually I’ve been to Japan twice in the Tokyo/Yokohama areas. The last time we were there was right after our submarine surfaced and hit their ship killing many teenagers. We were braced for possible backlash about that but didn’t get one bad comment. Everyone was their wonderful and kind selves. We did, however, apologize to several acquaintances for the accident.
We’ve had such a wonderful experience we are going to hop the JR trains for a week!
I’m envious. My wife was there for three months late last year while her mother was ill but I haven’t been there since 2004. We’re looking at going next summer, probably about this time.
I think the JTB idea someone had is good place to start. I’ve the sites you mentioned but never used them.
