I lived in Japan for 14 years. I could count the number of people I met who didn't like Americans on one hand. Not saying their not there, I just didn't meet them.

My wife's aunt and a cousin died at Nagasaki. No one in her family "holds it against us".

Maybe they just didn't like you.

Thank’s to all for your help.

Actually I’ve been to Japan twice in the Tokyo/Yokohama areas. The last time we were there was right after our submarine surfaced and hit their ship killing many teenagers. We were braced for possible backlash about that but didn’t get one bad comment. Everyone was their wonderful and kind selves. We did, however, apologize to several acquaintances for the accident.

We’ve had such a wonderful experience we are going to hop the JR trains for a week!
