ugh I hate skunks. We had one around here last night and I had to close the windows. I shot one in the yard a few years ago, but we’re not allowed to do that anymore.

Works exceptionally well.
I guess my skunk's a nightshift commuter, I just try to remember not to open my sidedoor around that time.
I was camping many years ago and while we sat around the fire at night a skunk walked into my tent. I had to stay up all night waiting for it to leave. I’ve never been camping since!
Sorry to hear that.
I didn't do it.
Use your instinked, sniper
When we were building our house out here in the boonies we lived in a trailer. Our dog was skunked in the middle of the night, and decided the best place to be was under the trailer!!! I woke up and just *knew* the place was on fire. It took me a while to figure out what happened.
The skunks came to my backyard a year ago. They literally root up the moss carpet like hogs. The residual odor is faint, enough to show they’re there.
I symphathise greatly.
if your AC is bringing in outside air you got a problem unless you have a fresh air intake. (and fresh air intakes are very rare)
unless a system has a fresh air intake the inside air should never mix with the outside air and vice versa.
I suspect you are in a relatively leaky older home. which is not all bad!
Buy lots of baking soda and place it in locations around your house?
Tomato Juice is a very, very effective skunk smell remover. When I was a kid, our cat Charlie (a huge tom with one fang missing, a stump tail and ragged ears from fighting dogs) regularly hunted down and killed skunks, and regularly got baptized in Tomato juice as a result. Always works. There would probably be a chemical reason for this, but I’m no chemist. Soap and water does not work: Tomato Juice does, every time. Just pour it on and work it in, then rinse off.
