If the proposed Amenesty Bill passes, our country will change in ways we can't forsee. In thinking about this, I thought it might be inspiring to find out how many Freepers have Patriot ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War. Naming those who gave so much for the establishment of this Republic will make their sacrifices (their lives, their fortunes, their sacred honor) more real to us. It will remind us of their determination in the face of all odds and give us encouragement to "keep the Republic."

GGGGG Grandfather, Wettenhall Warner, South Carolina
GGG Grandmother, Margaret Henry, whose father was 1st cousin to Patrick Henry
This might be of interest.
I do not know the exact connection, but at least one of my ancestors fought in the war of independence. In his will, he told his children that while he lost all of his worldly goods to the British troops he left them the gift of liberty.
My father was in the U.S. Army in the fifties. He stood ready to defend America against invaders. Unlike today’s “leaders” who are trying their best to sell it.
A bunch of other notables followed him, too, including another ancestor who was Lincoln's best friend, Joshua Fry Speed.

sorry about the double post. Something glitched.
Cool. But I think you might have the birth and death dates reversed. :)
Oops, you’re right. Born 1700, died 1754. (Stupid fingers.)

Also descended from the brother of George Walton, Signer for GA.
John Adams. Not sure how many generations back, on my mother’s mother’s mother’s side.
Three of four branches of my family have been in this country since before the revolution. My grandmother is a legal immigrant from England who jumped through all the hoops and became a citizen the right way.
My ancestors are credited with making some of the earliest, totally American made, long rifles, in other words, not using imported parts. Some of those rifles were put to very good use. If you get a chance to visit Williamsburg, check out the “Honaker” rifles.
And as it turns out, he also had King George III as an ancestor.
So his genes covered both sides of the conflict.
Did he invent time travel? :^)
already corrected in post #10. You missed it.
Is first president of the country close enough?
If we can.
