When you post something, it generally helps if it's coherent. I have no idea what point you were trying to make.

I was working in Germany when the Iron curtain came down, and Eastern Europe was crying out with questions as to how to be free. I asked the State Department then if they had the "Declaration" in the German language. The answer was that they only had it in French, Spanish, and English. :-\ (The irony was/is that the first time it was published it was in German.)
On 06 July, 1776 the Declaration was printed in the Philadelphia newspaper, Pennsylvania Evening Post. It was also translated into German, and on the 9th published in the Pennsylvanischer Staatsbote. Over the next few days was carried by express riders to the other colonies and major cities. By the end of the month would be published in about thirty newspapers throughout the colonies. The 17 August issue of the London Chronicle was the first newspaper in Great Britain to publish the Declaration.

Here's an idea, pinhead!
Let the A Rabs write their OWN Declaration, for their OWN purposes, in their OWN language....
I don't want a bunch of camel molesters touching it, no more than they would want me using the koran for toilet paper (which is all it's good for, besides starting fires in my woodstove)....

Why do you think the Iraqis need or would want or would understand our Constitution?
Do you think most of them even know who king George was?
That document is very specific to the situation that existed in America in the mid-19th century and is in NO WAY a document that has anything to do with any other country's woes.
If necessary, we will assist them in writing their OWN constitution.

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy. If we had flooded Iraq with copies of the Declaration in Arabic and other native laguages, you and Osgood and the author of this letter you've presented would simply accuse us of forcing them into line with our own vision of how Iraqi society should be.
When someone is (to be quite frank) stupid enough to believe this war was unjustified, there is nothing one can do that they will approve of, except perhaps abandoning the Iraqi people to genocide the way we did the South Vietnamese, Laotians and Cambodians. A humiliating defeat followed by a million or so brown people getting slaughtered always seems to put you folks in a good mood.
While you're doing such extensive research, why don't you take this project on: Can you tell me how many of Charlie Rangel's kids and grandkids have served in the military? His office won't tell me. Wonder why...

Great stat, hadn't thought of it that way before. Did you hear Rush talking about Iraq vs. Philadelphia today? Last year in Philly, there were 406 homicides; in Iraq we lost 821 troops. So, if one can establish that 9 or more of our troops died in non-combat accidents (and I'm sure that's probably true) then more Americans are dying in an American city of 1.5 million than are losing their lives in a war zone with 25 million inhabitants.

That document is very specific to the situation that existed in America in the mid-19th century Late 18th...but the gist of your post is dead on.
