What is a good response for those who question why the Secret Service did not immediately remove Bush from the classroom on 9/11 when, at the time, it would have been reasonable to consider him a target?
You've been provided an education by others who have phrased it better than I on this question, but I trust that you understand why a first day member putting up something that could easily be seen as an incitement might generate suspicion. Whatever the outcome of this thread, hang around a bit, or simply do a search on the word "zot" and examine some of the outrageous things that get posted by trolls doing precisely what some suspect you of. It's usually pretty offensive, not to say stupid.
As to your specific question
What is a good response for those who question why the Secret Service did not immediately remove Bush from the classroom on 9/11 when, at the time, it would have been reasonable to consider him a target?
At the time there was nothing to indicate any threat at that location. In fact, there would have been reason to believe that the particular location was as secure as anything they could get to in a reasonable amount of time. When a problem occurs the first thing is to gather tactical information unless there is an immediate threat.
There would have been no way to tell that any theoretical threat might not be outside rather than inside and, in fact, that anyone threatening the President might be counting on the President being immediately moved.
You don't jump until you know that it's not more dangerous to be "there" than where you are now.
Options would have to be assessed. Would it be better to put him in the car, traveling along limited known roads, or bring in military helicopters, for example. And where could those come from? And where would the nearest truly "secure" facility be?
The only known threat was in NY. He wasn't in NY. Raise the threat level to "outrageous" and gather intel. It's real simple.
It really wasn't meant as a question. It is part of the LIHOP (Let It Happen on Purpose) and MIHOP (Made It Happen on Purpose) lexicon that since Bush wasn't promptly removed upon the planes hitting the towers, it meant that Bush knew it was going to happen and knew he wasn't in danger. The newb was trolling.
I like 'Bite me'.
Looks like either a VK or the spork weasel bit John. Alas, it was fatal.
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Viking Kitty/ZOT ping list!. . . don't be shy.
Well, I was in the shower...did anything happen?
1. First graders are not members of a terrorist organization.
2. For the terrorists to attack the elementary school with aircraft, they would have to know it's location and be able to find and target it from the air at about 400 miles per hour. As far as an attack on the ground, security doctrine requires that you not have the president sitting in the open for long periods, which means you only move him to the motorcade when the motorcade is going somewhere and he will be able to move to the next step as soon as you arrive. That brings u8s to the next reason...
3. Air Force One does not just leap into the air. Safe flights take time. Why move the president from a target that would be impossible to attack (the school) to a target much easier to attack--the tarmac at an Air Force base with the world's best known 747 sitting on it?
LOL. Good answer.
Well, they were going to fall on the ground in a fetal position and cry "We're doomed!" but then their training took over...
They would need to secure his exitand route before running pellmell out of the classroom and going out into the streets driving to AF1?
D'uh. You know, they had to assess the situation. I'm pretty sure these guys have been trained for this sort of stuff.
Gads, what low level trolls we've had lately.
Depends who were you showering with ?
A strange choice of handle, for obvious reasons.
Well put, Silverback.
