The ***OFFICIAL*** Weekend Singles' Thread -- US and British Air Shows (July 7th - 9th 2006)
7th July 2006 | Snugs

Posted on 07/07/2006 3:25:44 PM PDT by snugs

The theme for this weekend is Air Shows and comparing them in the US and Britain. I have picked Biggin Hill Air Show which is an ex RAF Station which is now in private ownership but continues to have an annual Air Show.

I last visited the airshow in 2000 but a friend of mine attended this year. The following are extracts from this year's program.

My parents were gone for the weekend. I had the whole house to myself.

My Dad lived in Nevada once.

Just relaxing...

I have to wait until Friday to find out about the status of my fingerprint card so I can get back to work. (It expired while I lived in TX. So I have to go through the sit and wait game.)

Meanwhile, I need to check the expiration dates on my teacher certificate so I can address that if it is time.

We didn't do much besides babysit the grandbaby this weekend.

We are wonderful! As you can see, we're up quite early. Someone has a plane to catch...

When are you heading back to CA?

That's good to hear...

Much of my weekend was spent on astronomy homework, though I managed to get out to a baseball game...

I took an astronomy class way back when...

I loved that class.

Four classes left...

...then I will have my degree.

Just finished talking about the Sun, heading into stars. IIRC, the next two classes will talk about the birth, life, and death of stars and of our Sun (and the astronomical demise of the Earth).

Pretty interesting stuff...

Yuppers!

What will you have a degree in?

Mine is in education with an academic specialization in science.

Having taken some graduate level English classes, I think I can teach English at the middle school level now, too.

Associate in Arts and Sciences.

Basically, it states that I have completed the typical general-education requirements required for a four-year degree--theoretically, I should not have to take any more than a couple of gen-eds to attain any degree.

I still have two years to go for my degree in Pol Sci (have yet to declare whether I'm going for an AB or SB)...

And I'm already starting to look at law schools and the LSATs...

That will mean three more years of schooling to get the JD.

Hey RR! It's Monday afternoon here. Walked in the door about an hour ago. Feel like a crispy critter. Hubby has already crashed hard on the bed.

And where do I go as soon as I come home from any trip? :)

Ugh!

Hope you an handle lawyer jokes, as there is a good reason for most of them.

Where are you currently going to school?

At one point I wanted to go to medical school, but in retrospect, I would have been too sick to have gotten through it, so it is just as well that life kept getting in the way and I am very happy with teaching.

I also know full well I can't be a teacher or a doctor...

Currently, I'm wrapping up my time at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha (two-year UW College); transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the fall.

As for law schools, considering Wisconsin, Marquette, Chicago, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, St. Thomas, and Minnesota (no particular order)...

Both ASU & U of A have law schools and ASU is one of the top "party" colleges.

I wanted to go to U of A medical school, but was married to a mama's boy and the ex-MIL was totally against anything I wanted in life. Besides, her ex-husband lived in Tucson and it would be treason for her son to have lived in the same town as his dad.

So ASU college of education, it was for me. But I went to school on the "West" campus because I am/was phobic of big crowds and couldn't deal with a "party" campus.
