The ***OFFICIAL*** Weekend Singles' Thread – Father’s Day Weekend (June 16 – 18, 2006)

Internet Dating:

Meeting the Parents:

Now, for some fun questions to kick off tonight’s thread!

1. Have you been on a date with someone you met on the Internet?
2. Did the date go well? Did a relationship result?
3. Did you meet them on a dating site or elsewhere? Was it totally by accident or chance?
4. Do you have a funny, gross, scary, or otherwise entertaining internet dating story to share? Either one that happened to you, or someone you know.
5. Any funny or interesting “meeting the parents” stories?
6. Has meeting the parents ever caused a breakup?
7. And, finally, have you ever set up a “backup” scenario to get out of a potentially bad date?

Well, I've got to head off to bed, folks -- it's 1:00 AM and I've had a long day.

Look forward to checking back in tomorrow, though . . . this is going to be a great thread this weekend!

I was kidding around. I was in Nice two summers ago, and the people there were quite friendly.

I imagine that there are plenty of people in France who are not anti-American, and can't stand socialists/commies/libs just as we can't.

Me, I've never done internet dating. I've met plenty of people here who I would certainly label as a friend. As for a relationship, not too many FReepers where I'm at or in a close distance. Flights could be rather pricey too.

Hey there! welcome.

wow, your FIL committed suicide? not as a result of you I hope!

RE: the Alabama lass.. I know of a couple Alabama gents from other threads.

but have her become a FReeper (or is she already?) & join us.

I truly do NOT believe distance is the impt issue. If the will is there the couple can work it out. Sure it is nice to find Mr/Miss wonderful in your backyard, but that not easy.

I'm kinda in a Warren Zevon place, right now. I'm still grieving his passing.

Grateful Dead always works for me, along with Leon Russell.

Yes, its really quite good.

Canmore is great. Wish I could get to the mountains more often. What is it you do, are you oil/gas? Did you do any hiking, skiing, or mountaineering around there ever?

I'm an engineer by trade (civil). I do love the outdoors, but when I lived in Calgary I tried to stay away from the places "everybody else likes to go" -- at least during the peak seasons.

Both of you stop! Phil you go to that side, BTLD, you go to the other. Any more fighting and they will close this thread down.

It's an expression. It means "you're bugging me, go away." Same as "Go jump in a lake." There's also one that's much less polite.

"Suggesting that I kill myself"...you are a bit of an overreactor.

I normally opt for "remote" also. Many reasons.

night!

I like Jasper more than Banff, for that reason. Done Rundle in Banff & skied Sunshine, and thats about it. We'd tend to do more around Canmore, but never ran into many people where we were.

No, before I met my wife... molestation + pending jail time.. not pretty.

have her become a FReeper (or is she already?) & join us.

May be tricky there. She is quite guarded but has used a Christian internet dating service before, one fellow almost made the grade. Until she found out he once got naked and ran through a neighborhood and was arrested... Not good... and I liked him too, but any fool that runs naked and gets caught is not good enough for my family. I personally did a streak (tenager dumb thing on a dare), but never got caught (or did it again)... LOL... shhhh, just between you and me on that ok...

Anyhoo, may let her decide if she wants too... She of course would be wise to totally deny I exist... ( I was the black sheep of the family lol)...

There is a lot of folly in youth & often should not be used to cross off a potentially good person. He sounds like a free spirit of fun & adventure.

Now if he is NOW mature, responsible & loyal/faithful it might work
