WASHINGTON, May 31 After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

Dang it.
This is like getting to the birtday party after the cake and party favors are all gone, and half the people have already gone home.
Looks like you had fun!

Hey President Bush: Don't even think about another photo-op beside that large open grave in lower Manhattan. The only reason it's still open is because your "progressive" politicians and Upper West Side limousine liberals are too busy fighting over who gets the biggest slice of tax money being taken to "redevelop" it.
Twenty years and countless tens of billions of dollars later, that grave will still be open, and people like you will still be blaming us for it.

No city (like New York) that maintains a "sanctuary" policy -- under which municipal workers are prohibited from cooperating with the INS in identifying and apprehending illegal aliens -- should get a f#cking dime of homeland security money, no matter how clear and obvious a terrorist target that city is.
I also find it ironic that at least 90% of the massive government expenditures incurred by New York under its anti-terrorism efforts could be eliminated simply by allowing law-abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons.

"And if in the future a terrorist attack kills thousands of people in Omaha, in Houston or in Jacksonville, Florida, a lot of New Yorkers, and certainly their sainted NYT, will be saying the "hicks" brought on the attack themselves with their support for Bush"
I have no doubt about that whatsoever.
Right now, I believe The NY Slimes is capable of anything, no matter how outrageous.
If I remember correctly, similar comment's were made by rabid liberals after Katrina.

Probably, the Feds
figure that New York has got
the Fantastic Four,
all the X-Men and
Spiderman to help them out,
so grants can be slashed . . .

Everyone is jumping on the new poster; but it was BLOOMBERG that went on the media today that said the Statue of Liberty was NY's.
http://www.1010wins.com/pages/41942.php?
(snip)
Mayor Michael Bloomberg was less militant, although he questioned what was happening in Washington.
``I don't have to list the Brooklyn Bridge, the United Nations and Rockefeller Center and the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building and the Stock Exchange,'' Bloomberg said. ``So you really wonder what was going through somebody's mind.''
(snip)
I say we bring the poster back and zot Bloomberg instead.

It mostly the aura of arrogance that appears to radiate from California and New York, as if they were the entire country, regardless of the fact that Texas has a larger population than New York.
Actually, the arrogance on this board seems to stem from the NY haters. If the DHC stated that there are no "national monuments" in NYC then they are sorely mistaken. I agree that some of the money sent to NYC over the last few years was lost in the black hole that is NYC politics, it doesn't escape the fact that NYC is the number one spot the terrorists want to hit in the world. The do not differentate liberals from conservatives. They want to kill Americans and hurt America. They want to seriously disrupt the world economy. Attacking NYC would accomplish many of their goals, attacking Omaha NE (which im sure is a very nice little city) would have a miminal effect.
