IMO this film is getting the GLITZ AD treatment ala "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" As I recall, there was a huge outcry over that book/film also on the basis of magic and dark forces. The more people hear "boycott" the faster they'll line up to read/view it!
And lest we forget...they're both still fiction!

Afraid I won't be watching it. It dishonors the Savior who died to give me the opportunity to spend eternity with God.
I would feel dirty paying money to undercut the life of my Savior.

Yes, and as we know, fiction (Uncle Tom's Cabin) has never (The Jungle) had any (Atlas Shrugged) meaningful impact (1984) on society.
The Duh Vinci Code hype is a great teaching moment for Christians. We should not ignore it. We should be blasting away at it with both barrels and instructing our family and friends who are curious about the lies with a large dose of the Truth.

I REPEAT.....Divinci Code is FICTION..FICTION....not real...made up..BS. Hollywood Pope Fiction.
To: Grendel9
Okay so maybe it is made up, but the author believes it's real... doesn't that stand for something?

I agree and the FReepeers keep posting threads on why this country and that religious leader wants it banned for heresy. It only makes people want to see the movie.

What's weird is the folks who seem to think all of Christianity is going to collapse because of the film. As I see it, 1) it'll reinforce the faithful, 2) make the curious read the bible more and more, and 3) peel off those who had no faith in the first place.

I wonder if any Christians in Sudan are being influenced by the DVC, in between persecutions, or is this strictly an American Christian problem ?

What is so fascinating about, "The Da Vinci Code"?
I found the book to be about as well plotted as a standard "Bodice Ripper" OOOOOH! When I hold the page up to the mirror, I CAN READ THE PHRASE!
When even I can figure out who the villain is by the 4th chapter, it is NOT a well crafted book.

I'm beginning to wonder if there's ANY movie capable of getting most over-30's to shlep out to the theater anymore. My wife and I have expressed no desire to go see this movie (we both read it), nor have I heard anyone else say so, for that matter.
But my televison and Internet won't stop gushing about it.

Dan Brown, who wrote the best-selling novel "The Da Vinci Code", joined the film version's director Ron Howard and actors Hanks, Ian McKellen, Jean Reno, Alfred Molina and Paul Bettany on the journey to the southern French coast.
A collection of anti Christian bigots that need to be followed and accused of their bigotry at every stop they make.

Have not read the book, have no intention of EVER seeing the movie. Writing a book full of lies about Jesus in order to sell a book and make a movie is blasphemy.

I am so totally not concerned about this ridiculous movie that I cannot understand all the hoopla. I think more than anything it is the studio trying to create The Passion of the Christ box office effect. This movie will change few minds about anything. Jesus has always had and always will have his enemies. Yawn... The only interesting part is the sad spectacle of spiritually blind people marching off to their own doom in grand triumph. Sort of like ants at a picnic running off with a crumb just before they get squashed underfoot, completely unaware of their own insignificance.

Yes it's fiction! But I still object to the subject matter, especially as it's promoted as the pseudo-truth.
If someone madeup a story about my Dad or my brothers which claimed that their friends had falsified their history, thereby insinuating that they were not as good as they really were), I would be livid. Then, even more so am I offended by such treatment of the menory and the mission of my Lord and Savior, Jeus Christ.
To offend Jesus Chirst is, IMHO, the worst thing that can happen, and causes me both pain and indignation. Even more so than if they had slandered my parents. After all, my parents gave me life, but my Savior gave me eternal life.
