(WJZ/AP) Lusby, MD WJZ.COM has learned that a 78 year-old man died after being attacked by a dog outside his home in Lusby, Calvert County.
The Calvert County Sheriff's department responded to the attack at about 1:30PM.
Bob Hampshire, of Calvert County Public Safety, says the victim had no visible bite wounds. He says the man has a medical history and was taking medication to thin his blood.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death is unclear. Investigators are awaiting a report from the medical examiner.
It appears that only one dog was involved in the attack and it may have been a pit bull. Police are still on the scene.

Somehow, I doubt it was a pit bull if the man has no evidence of bites! Maybe some dog threatened him and he had cardiac arrest?

Could being on blood thinners make you bleed internally to the point of death? I agree, it seems unlikely to be a pit if there were not external bite wounds. Maybe a heart attack. Strange little story, altho telling that they said it "might be a pit bull". Seems like they would wait on that info until they knew a little more. Might have been a lab or a cocker spaniel or a really mean toy poodle....

I was thinking the same thing, died of an attack but no bite wounds?
What kind of attack was it, a lap attack?
Pit bulls are in fact, telekenetic remote chewers and can eat a person's internal organs from within just by thinking about it and should therefore be banned < /sarcasm>
ROFLMAO!
It's just a stock photo. It says "pit bull" and the story indicates they have no idea who "attacked". Remember, they're SURMISING it "may" have been a pit bull!
Who wants to bet!
"no visible bite wounds" - This is not characteristic of a pit bull attack.

Somebody is reaching here. Are you sure this didn't take place at Duke University?
Keep in mind that I've been personally told, here on FR, no less, that the press would not sensationalize pit bull stories, and that the same media, who can not be counted for accuracy regarding politics, military issues, economic issues, social issues, religious issues, etc. can be relied upon to be 100% bias free and purely objective when it comes to the matter of reporting pit bull issues.
"Keep in mind that I've been personally told, here on FR, no less, that the press would not sensationalize pit bull stories..."
I've been told the same thing. Countless times. Must be true.
Most likely a cerebral bleed, a stroke (from a clot thrown from the atrium), or an MI from fright....
That's what I'm thinking. Fright. Maybe some (unknown) dog just treatened him and scared him. Poor man.
