An update and a request for continued prayers from and for a fellow FReeper
Zacs Mom

Posted on 03/28/2006 2:29:19 PM PST by Zacs Mom

Dear FRiends ~ First of all I want to thank all of you for your prayers and support! It means the world to both my husband and my self. Next, I want apologize for not posting this update sooner, but yesterday was a very long day and as pooped as I have been, frankly, getting online was not high on my priorities last night and this morning. After a lot of rest and TLC from husband, I'm feeling stronger this afternoon, though, so here is the latest that we know ...

My consolation with the doctors yesterday proved to be more puzzling than I anticipated. Once again the doctors are saying they are not sure what we are dealing with. The PET-scan came back showing "positive" in all of the mass areas ~ including the areas areas that had been biopsies and came back as negative. This is not what the doctors expected. Obviously something is going on and they are very concerned, but what we are dealing with exactly is still a mystery.

They all had a real strong sense of urgency and want to go in and remove all of the masses from my lungs, which probably removing the lower lobe of the right lung completely. They want to do this ASAP but are concerned that since my blood level is still so low that I may actually still be bleeding internally in an area that wasn't seen with the initial surgery last month. So they they did another blood work-up and are doing a consultation with the the surgeon who performed that procedure and will decide, with him, what if anything needs to be done about that before we do the mass removal surgery. But we went ahead and did all the pre-op lab work at the hospital yesterday before I left.

So there you have it. I am kind of expecting a call either this evening or tomorrow setting up the surgery. I definitely got the feeling the "sooner the better" was the time frame they were working within, so I'm guessing I'll be back in the hospital fairly quickly. At least this time I won't have to be taken there in an ambulance! lol

As I was leaving the hospital I saw a bright shiny penny laying just outside the door and my heart immediately felt lighter!! I have some really special thoughts on "found pennies" which I'd love to share with y'all:

More prayers for your recovery and that you continue to strongly feel God's presence and our support as you deal with the medical community. God can work miracles in many ways and often uses "matter" as He accomplishes the healing.

Mark 6:56 -- And whithersoever HE entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought HIM that they might touch if it were but the border of HIS garment: and as many as touched HIM were made whole

Acts 19:11-12 -- And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them,...

Acts 5:15 -- Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

John 9:11 -- He replied, "The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see."

Thanks for the update. Be strong and know that we are praying for you.

My Grandfather had the lower part of his lung removed. It is a bug surgery and it takes a lot out of you. Rest up and build up some strength before the surgery.

He went back to golfing and Vegas trips after he healed up from his surgery, and I have no doubt you will be back on your feet soon as well.

Good luck.

May our Lord bless you and heal you and may He guide the doctors as they tend to you. Over twenty years ago my mother-in-law had her lower lung lobe removed due to cancer. She lived to a ripe old age after that (she went home to the Lord last year at age 85). I pray that you too will live to a ripe old age.

A quick update for y'all ~ I just spoke with one of the Specialists and he says that while my blood count is not exactly going down, it isn't going up either, so he has scheduled me for another procedure to see if there is still some internal bleeding occurring. This will take place next Wednesday ~ (which is the soonest they could schedule it with Internist) and then on Thursday they will redo the labs and review all of that data to see determine if we can can move forward with the surgery to remove the masses and the lower lobe of my right lung.

The Specialist seemed a bit miffed about the delays but at least it gives me a little extra time prepare for an extended stay at the hospital. (things like putting together a "honey-do" list for my hubby .... things he'd never think of on his own like watering the plants, giving the dogs his monthly heart-worm medicine, refilling the bird-feeders .... and other important stuff like that - LOL)

I really would like to regain some strength 'cause with spring bursting out all over I am chomping at the bit to get busy in my flower gardens. I love this time of year and working in the garden is soooo good for my soul! I've been taking the prescribed iron supplements religiously, along with vitamin C which helps the body put iron to work and I have been eating lots iron rich foods such as spinach and lean red meat so, hopefully, it's helping. For now, I guess I have a week to relax and rest up without having to return to the hospital or doctors office for anything!! And for that reprieve alone I am immensely grateful!!

I am immensely grateful, as well, for all of the incredible support and much needed prayers you all have been so kind to offer my husband and myself!! I try to read all posts and FReep-mail each evening before I go to bed and although I am often I don't have the stamina to write individual responses please know I truly appreciate each and everyone of them!! I am still printing all of them out so I can reread them at my leisure and share them with my special visitors. ((((((((Thank you so much for being here for us!!)))))

And one last thing ~ I'd to share this a fairly new page I completed recently with you ~ I think it may well strike a cord with a few of you ...

May God continue to Bless us all!

Thank you for the update...it is awfully considerate of you to take the time to do this...especially with all of the stuff you are doing while so ill.

I know the kind of tiredness you are having...I got so weak one night...I had my husband take me to emergency---they took my blood count and it was so low, that the doctor said that had I been in a car accident on the way to the hospital I would have died from blood loss.

I had been so tired, that I couldn't chase my two year old granddaughter 10 feet without getting out of breath, and being exhausted.

My blood loss was from my uterus and I had to have an emergency hyterectomy...fortunately, that is all it was---but, ZM...you really are tired, I know, and just posting your posts is very, very nice of you.

I will keep on praying---and if there is a change in your schedule, please keep us informed.

I am also praying for your husband and family, I know they are worried and stressed as well. I may have to add to my prayers that your husband remember his "honey-dos"....LOL

Please do NOT try to over do...

later

Pulling for you bigtime, ZM! I had a co-worker who had a lobe of his lung removed who could out-walk me uphill. Don't get impatient - your body isn't in balance at the moment and whatever you do to put it back in balance will put it out of balance even worse for a time. Keep your spirits up and the rest will follow. Logging into FR frequently certainly raise the old blood pressure, especially these days... ;-)

Oh my word ZM , I have a limited vocabulary to explain how moving your tribute is to me.

I will not ever forget it, I know that as I sit here sobbing out loud and full of emotions.

May the dear angels surround you and hold you and guide you thru this maze before you.

I think after knowing you a bit, I have come close to an angel on earth.

May God hold you and your family so tight. *hugs*
