Its formal name is the People's Republic of New Jersey.
The Second Amendment does not apply here in the PRNJ.

(Everyone should have a subject they are ignorant about. I choose professional corporate sports.)
I see the reporter mistakingly put Alexander Hamilton on the list of famous people born in NJ. He was born on Nevis in the British West Indies in 1755.
He was given the distinction of being the Founder of Paterson, NJ, who saw the potential of the Great Falls of Paterson, (2nd in volume to Niagara Falls) in being a force to power factories. Hamilton believed that the United States needed to reduce its dependence on foreign goods and should instead develop its own industries. The industries developed in Paterson were powered by the 77-foot high Great Falls of the Passaic, and a system of water raceways that harnessed the power of the falls. The district originally included dozens of mill buildings and other manufacturing structures associated with the textile industry and later, the firearms, silk, and railroad locomotive manufacturing industries. In the latter half of the 1800s, silk production became the dominant industry and formed the basis of Patersons most prosperous period, earning it the nickname "Silk City." He was right.

It sure doesn't. And don't shoot the 'unarmed' man who breaks into your home to rape your wife or to rob your goods for it will be you who gets charged with a crime for defending your home.

Sorry, that's wrong. Mississippi tomatoes are the best.

The Rutgers Tomatoe is, by far, the creme de la creme. Let's not forget that most of the ketchup, tomato soup and Pace Picante is made from those marvelous Nu Joisey pomos d'oro!
To: Coleus
BTW the first Intercollegiate football game was WON by Rutgers in 1869! How do I know. When I attended Rutgers there was a Historical Marker in front of the gym which stood on the ground where this epic battle was waged. Every Frosh had to know this fact!!!
Rutgers 6 Princeton 4

> The Second Amendment does not apply here That's news to me. I just got my firearms ID and handgun permits, and I live just a few miles from a highly acclaimed shooting range.
Granted, I shouldn't have to have a "permit" nor should I need to "apply" for one. But the 2nd Amendment being infringed, and the 2nd Amendment not applying here (as you said), are two different things.

Being from NJ, and now living in CA - I'd have to take umbrage to these items.
- New Jersey has the highest cost of living.
- New Jersey has the highest cost of auto insurance.
- New Jersey has the highest property taxes in the nation.
Also, this is no longer true...
- New Jersey is home to the Miss America Pageant held in Atlantic City.
And this....
- You know that the state isn't all farmland.
ROFLMAO
And this....
- You don't think "What exit?" is very funny.
Truer words have NEVER been spoken. My response to this question is now, "Oh, how 1980"

Rutgers 6 Princeton 4 Which, coincidentally, is the last time Rutgers ever won a football game.

I had this discussion with another Californian. There is a law of some sort in CA that prevents property taxes from being raised more than a certain percentage. When the Californian heard what I pay, he was floored. My property taxes were far higher than his, and his home was worth far more. :-(

Here's something left off the list:
NJ has the longest running rodeo in the U.S.:
http://www.cowtownrodeo.com/history_4.html
That one was a big surprise to me when I heard about it. I'd best most people put "New Jersey" and "shore" together in one thought, but not New Jersey and "rodeo". Found out later my grandfather's family owned and raised horses in that same town.

As a matter of fact we would not beat Princeton again until the 1890s!!
My Freshman year 1961 we were undefeated. We were invited to the Fiesta Bowl. A Rutgers Alum by the name of Ozzie Nelson class of '19 was supposedly lobbying for Rutgers to be invited to the Rose Bowl since we were one of only two major college undefeated teams. But alas it was not to be since we were'nt a West Coast or Big 10 team!
Our President Mason Gross said no to the Fiesta Bowl since he did not see what we would prove playing against a "football" program where atheletics trumped academics. You see our that year our interios linemen were engineers. Two Electrical, one Mechanical and one locomotive, (kidding). They were also Dean's List students. Our Center was a Henry Rutgers Scholar which is one cut above Dean's List in English Lit. He is now the President of BBDO that Wall St Ad Agency that you might have heard of.
Sadly in the fall of 62 we lost to Princeton on the foot of Pete Gogalak but we did see the future of the soccer kick.
