And now, I bring you tonights Dinklemeyer. It is with great pleasure that I introduce the first major character besides Freddy to last throughout the strips history:
I never gave the talking pig a name; he is just called The Pig. In expanding Dinklemeyers world, I wanted to draw a lot more of Freddys home life and get him away from High School.
If Im allowed to say it, the pig is one of my all-time favorite cartoon characters that I personally have created.
I had long wanted to do an animal character. At first, I thought, dog. But a talking dog
that just doesnt sound original. Same with a cat. Feels like its been done. So I was going through domestic animals in my mind, when I came to pigs. Pigs are not as well represented in the comic strip world as dogs and cats, so it seemed like a perfect fit.
Here, his look is not quite fully developed. But his first line of dialogue here establishes his personality perfectly. I had no idea how funny the pig would turn out to be when I first started him.
Freddy Dinklemeyer has a weird home life.

That is very cool. Knowledge and skills passed from generation to generation. It is not just a trade for you, it is history and tradition. My hat is off to you.
