I am Ready to Leave the USA. Any Suggestions of Where to Live? [DU]

Posted on 01/25/2006 8:43:28 PM PST by DancesWithBolsheviks

DU Thread - I would love to go to Canada but it seems we may be too old by the time we are able to leave in about two years. I am also considering Costa Rica, Panama and Mexico but any civilized non-fascist country will do. Please, any suggestions, help and/or links are greatly appreciated.

I am hoping for no "stay and fight" or "coward" responses. I have two young boys who deserve to have a real future. That is not going to happen in this country.

Where ever you go, be prepared for the treatment once you tell them you are an American. You'll find that your Liberal, fanatsy-land mentality is not so welcome as you think (Unless you go to France). If by the way, you do go to France, take a heap of money. They will still say "take your American dollars and go home", but take your money anyway, or else you won't be able to live anywhere but a gutter.

Venezuela was my first thought too. I've never been there, but Cindy Sheehan could probably provide guidance when she returns. Harry Belafonte is sure to have tips too.

That's not a future in Panama, the libs in question have determined there is no future in the USA.

for the parents it might be, but my post recognizes that kids go their own way and don't live at home forever... in any event when i answered teh original post I didn't realize it was a DU report for comic value.

Before leaving, try getting a husband, getting pregnant again, kick off your shoes and enjoy the kitchen. Try it, you might like it.

Check out this paranoid post from 'NIGHT TRIPPER':

when the time is right, in the middle of the night, the roundup begins...and we will be cleansed like no country has ever been cleansed before-

at least in their sick scheming minds!!!--plans are in place-you can bet-

Once the "Event" happens (911 style MIHOP but bigger)-plans kick in like clockwork.

All opposition and potential threats are "eliminated"- Permanent military state --no more elections- no one to oppose it !!!

sounds insane-like some bizzare movie plot-but this is reality!!

Dated a Venesolana for a bit some years ago. She told me how her aunt took a taxi to her middle class condo in Caracas, and how the taxi driver told her upon arrival at her home, something like 'nice place - Presidente Chavez says these units will belong to us someday - I think I want this one.'

Always thought that if I were to live overseas again (lived in Europe for a year on business) I'd choose Singapore or Chile (haven't visited either). After the recent election in Chile though, it looks like they might be slipping from their capitalist path.

Maybe they could find another "socialist utopia" such as Jonestown in Guyana-look how well that turned out. Jim Jones was also "concerned"(paranoid)about the "fascism" that was developing in the US at that time.

Yea! Pa's okay. Highest fuel tax in country. And Rendell as a Governor (not my fault!). But we do allow concealed carry, and class 3 weapons, so it's not too bad.
