DU Thread - I would love to go to Canada but it seems we may be too old by the time we are able to leave in about two years. I am also considering Costa Rica, Panama and Mexico but any civilized non-fascist country will do. Please, any suggestions, help and/or links are greatly appreciated.
I am hoping for no "stay and fight" or "coward" responses. I have two young boys who deserve to have a real future. That is not going to happen in this country.
And lighten up a little bit. I was joking. Nobody here wants to move to Cuba.

Disregard 101. Sent to wrong person.
I remember going to Port Au Prince three years ago. Had an armed escort. Its the Zimbabwe of the western hemisphere.
Nevertheless, at least I could drive a new model Suburban in Port Au Prince, something I couldn't do in Havana. ;-)
No Cuba? I thought that was the epitome of paradise to them. Free healthcare, free education, free beatings... all free.

It certainly is west Zimbabwe. I took an excursion in there from the Dominican, and cannot imagine anywhere being much worse. I have never been to Cuba though. My point was that it does have a lot of potential, and I wouldn't mind getting some money invested in there once the commies fall. Plus I thought it was just a little too nice of a place to recommend to the libs. I would like to see them go somewhere cold like North Korea or Siberia so they could freeze their commie a$$es off.
As if you could get away from a hurricane on that island!
North Korea, Libya, Venezuela, Bolivia [good pharmaceuticals], Cuba, Belorus, Kyrgistan. "Y'all leave now, y'heah?".
Invade is bad. Homestead is good. Only indigenous people or homesteaders get to claim land.
DUs wishing to leave the US should homestead Antarctica. It would be easier than homesteading the planet Mars. I will help them leave.
You know what's interesting about that thread in DU? Almost no suggestions of European countries It's Central American countries -- Belize, Mexico, Panama and Costa Rica in particular -- that seem to get most of the suggestions. Meanwhile, there's two mentions of Ireland, one of Sweden, one of Denmark, two of Switzerland. A few for the Netherlands -- but one because that's where the person originally is from. One mention of Estonia, from someone who says he could claim citizenship there. No mentions of France. Germany only in the context of people who left there, because of the Nazis.
That tells me more about the demographic shift towards Islam in Europe more than anything else. Even the leftists -- though they aren't saying it outright -- don't see it as a haven from "fascist" America.

I hate to tell you this, but Belize isn't an island (Map here.) OTOH, it's so small, that I'm not sure you could inland enough to be "away from the coast."
Haiti is truly the arm pit of the world. Been there, done that and don't wanna do it again.
They are enviromentally friendly to the liberals.
Iran will be a happenin' place very shortly, I suspect...
Good idea. They always send folks here... let's return the favor.
The boys could start an ice hockey team.
We've been to Venezuela (Caracas), and it was HORRIBLE! If you are comfortable seeing soldiers with machine guns on every street, seeing abject voluntary poverty (people who can afford better housing living in grubby shacks to obtain free utilities while EVERYONE carries a cell phone) contrasted with a wealthy class who live in palatial estates, and you like an economic caste system, then Venezuala is paradise. For me, blech.
After a couple of centuries, the claim does get old. What was the british option - remove their settlers and turn the island over to a military kleptocracy in a country that was sticking zeros on its currency very frequently? There are indications FCO *wanted* to do this in the early 70's before the military coup.
If the malvinas are part of argentina and not british, then much of the US certainly does not belong to us but to the natives settlers displaced or eradicated, since the british have had the falklands longer than we have had some parts of the US.
they could go to the dry valleys and avoid many of the issues with snow and ice. probably need some enviromental regs to insure they don't damage the pristine beauty though.
