If you were not logged while eating, you are going to get VERY sick. Seek medical attention immediately!

Ok, LEL, from what we know about you, you are young, vibrant, attractive, etc., so why in the heck are you knitting sushi rolls? Also, what the heck you do with them once you are done?

I'm Norwegian and we served Lutefisk every year at the Holidays. If you are visiting someone and they serve it, it usually means you've stayed one day too long...
Uff da ;~D

Knitting isn't just for grannies, Max. ;-)
As far as what I did with it, well, first I doinked it off Mr. Legs' forehead, then gave it to him to take to work.
To: LongElegantLegs
Doinking his forehead is putting them to good use, but what did he do with them at work?
(Sorry if I seem facisnated/obessed with these knitted sushi rolls but this is a first for me)

He will use it to mete out the Doink of Justice on those who exhibit persistent stupidity. The Power of Sushi is great.

And here we thought you were a real Renaissance man, CH...
Anyway, wouldn't a Chem degree come in handy re: the safe preparation of lutefisk?

When I was a kid, I visited my grandparents in northwest Minnesota one summer got to try what I believe was the Finnish version of lutefisk. My grandparents had made it and had kept it in a huge glass jar. The jar was filled with a frothy white-gray substance and floating in the substance were shiny blobs of what I assume was fish meat. It was black though, unlike Norwegian lutefisk. Grandma got the jar out and offered some to my cousin and me. She put a little bit of the goo on a cracker. We each took a bite and immediately ran to the sink to spit it out. It was such a horrible taste that I cannot even begin to describe it. Nothing I have ever tried has tasted so horrid. My grandma wasn't offended that we didn't like the lutefisk, but she was surprised saying "oh you don't like it? I could eat a whole jar of it!" Yikes!

I read somewhere that it's Carp. I've unwillingly caught a carp and bullhead. Nasty, ugly fish eating my bait when I'm trying to catch walleye.
They're rats with scales.
They get released thrown back.

Has anyone on FR eaten lutefisk? I have.
and will I die if I do?
No. Once you get past the taste, smell and mouthfeel there is nothing to worry about except the fish burps for the next hour.
Enjoy!

I know what you're saying about carp, your hands smell for days from just taking them off the hook. But I was serious about reading that lutefish was prepared with carp. Don't know if it's true.

Aquavit is always serve with the lutefisk as far as I know. Thats a pretty strong liquor that will adjust your taste. This is something different, but I doubt any amount of alcohol will "adjust" the taste enough to make something edible.
Even after tanking down several drinks of summahon in the villages of Ukraine, I could never get to where I could sample sala, which is pure unadulterated blocks of pig fat, and considered a great delicacy by Ukrainians even when not drunk.
