There could easily be a four day delay between adding a computer and having it recognized/counted [based on personal experience].

I finished my second WU this AM - it only had 250 Frames but gave me 600 points. It took 3 days.

I just put my Dell Poweredge 1800 with dual 3.2 Xeons on the job running three processes.

I have 5 machines at home.... so I should be climbing the charts pretty quick. :)

They sure do. However, those 600 pointer WUs are a lot better than my 46 pointers :)

I had seen the threads before and had no interest in Folding@Home. I (don't laugh) really thought it was a bunch of house wives that Freeped instead of doing laundry while their husbands were at work. *snicker*

At some point in the past FAH started giving out ~2x the points for the large, memory intensive units to get people to take them. I believe that this will persist only as long as the 1140 - 1150 units remain. The policy apparently has been discontinued at this point for new, higher numbered WUs.

I finally figured it out. The resolv.conf file was missing, so the client couldn't find its servers. The solution didn't immediately jump out at me, because I was logged into the laptop remotely (via ssh). So, I knew the networking was up, but didn't think about checking name resolution until I'd beat my head against the wall for a while.

I don't have any *nix computers running FAH - they are even slower machines than the ones that are running FAH.

Are you running three copies of the console on a two processor system? If so, that will slow down your overall work.

Yeah, but it plays nicely. Have one running on an Oracle 11510 Apps Tier (test) and just ran some patches on it. It gave up the cpu time Oracle needed.
