So why does the extremeoverclocking web site take 20 Min to update its files? You'd think if those people knew what they were doing, they'd get the job done in under a second.

My husband has been surfing Newegg.com since this came up. It's that competitive spirit! LOL!

I have too. The green Stanford guys seem to like the P4M for power per watt. These EM64T and P4 put out some heat. It's 80 today in Orlando and I'm dying.

The P4M have a large L1 cache (for Intel chips), a huge L2 cache and run cool. The only bad thing is they only crank up to around 2GHz or so. And I don't think the FSB goes over 533MHz.

But the thing that probably counts the most with this folding is overall processor speed.

Wonder if they have a 64bit version yet?

First day back at work after Christmas Holiday... and a MONDAY, at that, and our ISP wasn't playing nice, trying to tweak their firewall, which is not something, you want to do, at 8am, after a 2 week holiday. Two switches went out, had to be replaced, and a plumbing contractor cut one of my fiber links, to the high school library, which was the biggest crisis of the day... Luckily, I keep a 400ft patch cable, which I just string down the hallways, until I can do a permanent splice,.

*waahhh* ... only got to add 2 systems. But there's always tommorrow.

But man, the list of newcomers is getting awesome, and I don't doubt, that in several weeks, we'll be knocking at the doors of the top players in this competition.

I have a Baystack 28115/ADV [16 port] that is lame [doesn't fully complete self test for a reason I don't remember] and needs to either be cannibalized or given some transplants. Does that coincide with your needs/patients?

I suspect you're right. My comp is a laptop G4, and it's been working all day on a monster (about 16 hours I think), and it's only 31% done.

List of Links *revised 01/02/2006

Summary - Folding Links of Interest

Let me know if you want anything added, or I've missed something. Freepmail me the link, and I'll add it to the next periodic update.

1. Where to get the Folding@home client(s)
http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html

2. FreeRepublic.com Folder Stats
http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=36120
(Almost Realtime - Updates every 20 minutes past the hour)

3. Extreme Overclockers stats for FreeRepublic.com
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=36120

(an hour behind Stanford Stats - Updates every 3 hours, starting at 12:00am CST)

NOTE:
Only the top 2000 teams are included on Overclockers, and when a team reaches the top 800, individual stats are included.

4. Our (or they think they are) Competition:

a. Democratic Underground
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=48157
b. Daily Kos
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=48083

c. Teams on the Radar Scope
http://fahstats.com/tr.php?t=36120

Note: FahStats is also an hour behind Stanford, and updates every 3 hours starting at 12:00am, but while updates are referenced in CST, they're an hour time late, and the stat times are posted in Greenwich mean time.

(confusing - you bet. The 3pm update(cst) is using the 2pm(cst) Stanford data, but the stats are listed as being posted as 9pm or 21:00 GMT)

Sounds to me like it needs a decent burial at sea. I'm using all Cisco switches, with a few older 3coms 3300/4300/4900's thrown in the mix

Now that's one heck of a scientific explanation for twisting the knickers off a mad cow collagen :)

"when a team reaches the top 800, individual stats are included."

Thanks, that answers a question that had been a minor nagging issue with their website. It also seemed that the fahstats page had some problems just after the new year [missed some updates] that I was guessing was some kind of clock rollover math problem [also saw a few hugh[sic] negative #s in some of their tables].

2 consoles and one window. The Xeons are hyperthreaded to make 4 logical processors. I still have 25% idle time. It may be somewhat impacted, but not enough to discount another process.

I have a G4, too, and it's been working for over 2 days (!) and is just over 1/3 done. Maybe they like Macs for the monsters! It would have been more gratifying to start small, though. :-)

I find it quite interesting that on overclockers every team 500 or higher that's rising in points and won't immediately be taken over by "locals" has us on their radar screen.

Like this team sitting at 509 http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=7

That's cool :)

In the sortables... we're consistently in the top 10 for # of gains every 24 hrs, # of gains for the week, and as of the 3pm update, we're #67 for points today, and #69 in points for the week...

Everytime we hit one of those speedbumps, where the stats estimate a 2 or 3 day time frame to overtake, we just roll right over it.
