I am a Gay Republican
Posted on 01/02/2006 4:14:15 AM PST by kutwhoredel
I am a Gay Republican but I almost never chime in on political issues. I believe in small government, which the Bush administration has not been good at, as well as low taxes and the free market. I don't believe in manmade global warming and I think environmental activism is mostly a cover for people who want to make more rules to control our lives. Social issues don't get me very excited and I know I should be more grateful to my gay forefathers for all their sacrifices, but I've never encountered homophobia in my entire life so gay rights issues just don't move me but the Bush administrations values towards gays are starting to get out of hand. Yes I supported Bush both times around and no I am not happy with the Republican congress' flagrant expansion of government spending, and I wouldn't mind if they lost their majority this year, it might kick some sense into them - you can be a conservative in principle and recognize the failures of your party in living up to those principles. (That doesn't make me any more sympathetic to the Democrats as the Republicans today are just failed conservatives while the Democrats aren't conservatives at all.) I don't bait people here but I figured it was reasonable to ask how I would be received here?

I am a heterosexual Conservative
Why do you people have to inflict you sexual orientation on everybody? Few of us feel the need to lead our posts with "I am a heterosexual" You could have posted here for years without somehow having to work your gayness into the discourse.

Kutwhoredel is silent now. What does the name mean? Is it an anagram?
RULED THE WOK -- he's an Iron Chef?
LEWD OTHER UK -- a Brit from the wild side?
TOURED WHELK -- well-traveled snail?
DREW HELOT UK -- an artist who draws British serfs?
TED HOWLER UK -- Some Rhythm Combo guy, either from or visiting the UK?
TED HOWE LURK -- Some guy named Ted who's been lurking?
KURD TELE WHO -- A Sunni Muslim about to ring the World Health Organization or a Dr. Seuss character?
LUTHER WED OK -- Protestant reformer or Superman archenemy married in Oklahoma?
Love the Internet Anagram Server

It's a great line -- but what about the remaining 363 days? I mean, what have we to look forward to now?

Well, it is an election year. I'll hold my nose and get back into the game for the GOP...again.

If you want to have sex with people of the same gender, that's fine with me, as long as you don't flaunt it in public. Is that what you are doing?

The emphasis of your first post should have been your political belief(s) since this is a political website, rather than your sexual choices. Lesson learned.

Are you a jock strap that has some how become confused?
You're on the wrong site dude, you won't find much man to man action here...or are you a woman?
In that case, (if you are a woman) if you're young and pretty and have pics (hot one's) of you and your red hot lovers, you are excactly on the right site!

Welcome to FR
a few suggestions . . .
You might want to change your screen name. Having the word "whore" in your name is going to really rub some folks the wrong way. Perhaps you can contact one of the moderators to have it changed.
Some FReepers are very ornery about newbies. You are not the first newbie that this has happened to. A good rule of thumb is to sign up on FR, post replies to other folks' threads for a while, and then post your own thread. We get a lot of trolls who sign up and then on the same day post a thread containing inflammatory drivel. We can tell someone's a troll because it has signed up today, posted it's own thread, and hasn't posted anything else, like replies to other FReepers' threads. Because you did this, and because you mentioned a pretty hot button topic, many here probably thought you were a troll.
As for your sexual orientation, I really don't care. I think gay sex is immoral, but as long as people keep it in the bedroom and don't shove it in everyone else's face, there are a thousand other things that worry me more. It doesn't sound like you've joined to talk about gay issues, but rather small govt, environment, and other things. That's great, we'd love to have your input. Frankly I am impressed that someone who is gay is also a small govt conservative - it shows that conservatism is not just about sex and that it appeals to all different kinds of thinking people.
If I were you, I'd probably not even bother with certain threads and posters when gay issues are discussed. Some people will get very nasty and you won't change anyone's mind. I do this myself; there are certain threads and certain posters I just don't even respond to because I don't want to start a flame war. There is a wide variety of people on here and some are better left ignored.

You are a man who likes sexual acts with other men. Your homosexuality is not your identity.
It's about sex....not your soul.
Keep that to yourself and not be exhibitionist and try to force acceptance on us and you are welcome as far as I'm concerned.
And yes, I do hold you to different standards because I think your sexual desires are dangerous for a culture if they become endemic like they are now. History is littered with such.

They probably said they support bush and you assumed they meant President Bush.
