I am a Gay Republican

Posted on 01/02/2006 4:14:15 AM PST by kutwhoredel

I am a Gay Republican but I almost never chime in on political issues. I believe in small government, which the Bush administration has not been good at, as well as low taxes and the free market. I don't believe in manmade global warming and I think environmental activism is mostly a cover for people who want to make more rules to control our lives. Social issues don't get me very excited and I know I should be more grateful to my gay forefathers for all their sacrifices, but I've never encountered homophobia in my entire life so gay rights issues just don't move me but the Bush administrations values towards gays are starting to get out of hand. Yes I supported Bush both times around and no I am not happy with the Republican congress' flagrant expansion of government spending, and I wouldn't mind if they lost their majority this year, it might kick some sense into them - you can be a conservative in principle and recognize the failures of your party in living up to those principles. (That doesn't make me any more sympathetic to the Democrats as the Republicans today are just failed conservatives while the Democrats aren't conservatives at all.) I don't bait people here but I figured it was reasonable to ask how I would be received here?

You would have probably been better received if you'd started out posting your opinions on an already established thread instead of starting a vanity about your sexual deviances. Nobody really cares who/what you sleep with as long as they're consenting adults/animals.

Glad to meet you. Your personal life is your own business. How you help to decide our country's future is of concern to like minded people.

I recognize your right to freedom and so long as your choices don't force decisions onto me, I'm happy with that situation.

If you are a gay Republican, let the Republican part be the more important.

Animals can't "consent".

Like little kids, they have no choice in what gets done to them.

Leave it with "consenting adults".....:)

Rats.

My first post was an open invitation to join a local biker run for the benefit of a veteran's home.

I should've come out swinging with a laundry list of kinky stuff.
I probably would've have gotten more responses.....;D

Ok well that's pretty much what I thought the reception would be like here. Thank you to you muir_redwoods for your warm and intelligent reply.

I'm serious. I'm not a troll. I would like to know what you guys would think about me as a Bush supporter? And yes I love kitties. I have a Lilac Burmese.

First thing you gotta learn is the conventions we use around here--

Serious=series
Huge=hugh
kitties=Zot!

Setting that nonsense aside, as long as you are talking about consenting adults, and keeping it private-- I don't really care- it's none of my business.

One thing old time Conservatives ( like myself ) and old time Liberals ( not the current Moonbats you see on TV- think instead Scoop Jackson ) used to agree on was Too Much Government Interference Was a Bad Thing. It's a delicate balancing act- you need a government strong enough to repel boarders, but not so all-reaching that is meddles in your everyday affairs. Like it does now.

Welcome to FR. Some are a bit skepticle of newbies, but as long as you don't push a bunch of pc/liberal ideals you should not have a problem. Starting off by posting a vanity post will not win many friends. But small government conservatives are always welcome here. Some Bushbots don't tolerate any criticiem of Bush, but they are not the majority.

Too many sexual issues have been brought into the political spectrum. Thus homosexuality has become a Republican vs. Democrat issue.

I'm a conservative and a Christian. I vote Republican because they come closer to my ideals than Democrats. Let me rephrase, I vote Republican because Democrats are satan's little helpers.

If you are looking to get patted on the head all the time, this is the wrong forum for you. I've been flamed many, many times on this forum. Its a rough and tumble dialogue here. If you have a thick skin you can learn a lot and have some fun.

I'm assuming that most people on this forum wil agree with the basis of you politics, if not the particulars (welcome to the club). Your homosexuality will be an issue with many who find it to be a sin (myself included). The more libertarian folks will likely support your views on homosexuality. Keeping all of that in mind, you may have some interesting comments to add concerning, but mainly not concerning, homosexual issues.

Interestingly, there are many people on FR who think Catholics are all going to hell, yet I didn't find a need to post an "I'm a Catholic, Am I Still Welcome" vanity. So getting over your own insecurity issues would be a good place to start.

All of the above assumes that you are not a troll.

Your thread is titled "I am a Gay Republican" and then you say social issues don't excite you? Do you realize why people who read that instantly question your motives? If social issues don't excite you, why bother to announce to anyone (and everyone) that you are gay? It is irrelevent if social issues don't matter to you.

You're right, but I didn't want to seem "intolerant" of other's alternative lifestyles. :)

You outed yourself as a homosexual, that does not give a rats rear end about anything.

What is the point?
