A woman is suing the Pizza Hut in Lehighton, Pa., because the hot poppers she ordered as an appetizer were, well, hot and popped when she bit into them.
Sorana Georgescu-Hassanin claims she may be permanently impaired because the ''excessively hot'' oil in the deep-fried, cheese-stuffed hot pepper severely burned her chin.
Her husband, Hatem Hassanin, is suing for the loss of companionship and comfort of his wife.
They are suing Pizza Hut for at least $25,000! each.
The suit names the Dallas corporation and Richard Whitso n, who owns the Lehighton franchise and his company, QSM, LLC. It says they failed to warn Sorana Georgescu-Hassanin the appetizers were hot and neglected to drain the oil from them.
Whitson declined to comment, other than to say, ''The incident took place before I owned the store.'' He bought the franchise in April.
Pizza Hut spokeswoman Julie Hildebrand said the company would not comment on pending litigation.
Great. I own stock in Pizza Hut's parent company.
Do you mean she is Monica impaired?
She should have put the pepper between her legs, they each could have sued for more. Her burned #!$&$@^ is worth $2 million to her (like the classic McDonald's suit), and who knows how much more comfort that region gives him than her chin?
I guess she needs to be careful of things hitting her in the chin from now on!
" Hatem Hassanin"
Could you ask for a better name?
They sound like real good hyphenated Americans.
No "hot poppers" for hubby for awhile...
As much as I agree it was dumb, I did see a copy of the leg-burnt woman, and the thighs were severely scarred as a result of the coffee burns.
I don't think I'd be sympathetically inclined if I were on the jury.
But there is no question that a lot of fast food is served way too hot.
I was never injured by McDonald's scalding coffee, but the ridiculously high temperature at which it was served really made it taste awful, and it took forever to cool down to a drinkable temperature.
Hey Sorana Georgescu-Hassanin:
Shut your pie hole!
I know based on experience working for a plaintiff's law firm that Yum Brands is pretty well insulated from liability for what happens at an individual franchisee's store.
Still---she was old enough to know NOT to place a liquid like that between her legs. What was she thinking? But I'd never thought of suing like she did. Guess that's why I'm poor still...
Because of burns to her chin? How could her chin have anything to do with that?
Did she use silverwear to pick them up? If not, the burning sensation on her fingers should have clued her in. Also, if they were that hot, there would be steam coming off of them which usually indicates some sort of heat. I'm thinking since they're suing for a relatively low amount Pizza Hut will just pay out & not fight it.
he's a Muslim. Doesn't he have some other wives to consort with? To get him over this tragedy?
When I think of all the pizza burns I've gotten in my mouth.... I could have been rich! I tell ya, I could have been very rich!
My momma always used to tell my daddy that you can't cook cold.
